To all of you getting defensive about "acting your age", I'm actually in complete agreement that you should act however you feel. HOWEVER, a large part of movies, even though they're only entertainment, is character choice, and in a lot of cases believability. The first four Rocky movies (we'll pretend V never happened) weren't exactly plausible, but you get caught up in it and it's not out of the realm of possibility that he could have won. This one? You can act however you want, there's no way the body of a 60-year old is going to stand up to BOXING with a real contender. Just no way. I'm sorry to all of you entering your latter years, but some things are just physical facts of life. Hell, in the first Rocky movie Rocky was 30, and that was considered almost washed up for a boxer.

Don't mean to diss anyone who likes this movie, we all enjoy things on different levels, just trying to say why I (and some others) don't think the concept is good.

Two cents worth on this one. I was going to the gym 5 days a week doing 2 1/2 to 3 hour work outs. By the way I was 50 years old. I had built up about 25 extra pounds of muscle weight and could run for 10 minute stints and recover rather quickly. My son 22 at the time was going to the gym 3 days a week working out about 40 mins aerobic and body bag and 20 mins weight. When we would start rough housing he would KICK MY **** and I was a real street brawler in my day. He would have me down and out in a matter of seconds, pinned helpless as a puppy dog.

I still like the story about Rocky at 60 doing a come back . . . this is a movie not reality or a political statement.

Again, we are talking about entertainment.

Man, you find me a movie that's completely plausible and I'll show you a movie that'll get me about as excited as rearranging my sock drawer.

Bah humbug! Who wants to grow up? Not me!

Oh yeah, my father doesn't want to either. Still goes to the gym and can still single rep max bench for 305lbs (yes, 305). Oh yeah, he's 75 yo (yes, 75). It's quite amazing actually. For those who may not believe this, too bad. I don't have a video to show nor pictures. Take it or leave it.

Some aspects of life, you do have to grow up, but in reality, stay young at heart till you're in the grave. When that happens, you won't give a sheet!

I believe you Brother. . .I've seen some real old timers at my gym who put me and some younger dudes to shame. Hell I would be happy to make it to their age and still be able to walk freely without the arthritic stiffness.

Great movie!!!! I took my son & he really liked it. Forget the Hollywood aspect, we can all take walk away with something from the film. As one gets older we do look back on our like just like Rocky. Pretty true to like I think.

All this Rocky talk reminds me of Maynard Ferguson's piercing notes in Gonna Fly Now which provided the musical muscle to that movie.

Sitting here at work and watched a bootleg......good flick, corny perhaps but still touching.

    Implausible? Definately. Entertaining. Absolutely.

    Thumbs up.

Notice how many of the web-blog-film geeks that get so wrapped up in the plausability and particulars of the new Rocky film, also spend a good portion of their lives pontificating over the scientific relevance of Star Trek:rolleyes:
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. If there is one thing in Star Trek that I want is the Holodeck.

    I'll be damned...
this movie was actually pretty good. Dare I say, "well-written"? Excellent ending as well. Really returns to what made the franchise so moving. It was also a clever move by Stallone to make the antagonist somewhat likable ala Apollo Creed.

IMO the two-dimensional cookie-cutter enemies who followed Weathers are what killed the series.

Im sorry...but as an older Rocky fan. This movie was bad. The old Rocky's, I could "feel" the punches, I could "feel" the emotion. This Rocky was emotionless and stale in both action and character. It was worse than the last "street brawling" Rocky and that one sucked big time. IMO

His appearence, his movements, looked terrible.

...oh and they had to thow in Tyson...lol...thats was funny.

I though this movie sucked big time; bad production, bad acting, bad everything. Maybe my expectations were too high, but everything looked "cheap".

Lil' known fact about Senor Gutten..

While filming 'Three Men and a Baby', Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson were having a debate that involved Star Trek and Star Wars that had quickly escalated into an argument. Steve pushed Ted, but was shoved back, with slightly more force, by Ted. Steve apologized and they remain good friends to this day.
