ROCKY BALBOA, is the greatest underdog story of all time. A bum from the streets knocks suckers out, kinda like tyson until he got knocked out ...:D

Why? Because it stars a 60-year old man trying to remain relevant with the same tired story, that's why. It's patently ridiculous. The movie could be fantastic, but when you make five movies that are essentially the same thing, and then twenty years later just recycle the idea with a comeback story... it's just hokey and cheap, that's all.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

    BINGO!!!:D

Same with Harrison Ford coming back for a turn at Indiana Jones. That series went out with a very nice bang & on top, he should just move on.

MM, for the most part I agree with you. However, the reality is that when you get older you just CAN'T physically do what you used to be able to do. Or if you can, certainly not for an extended period of time.

    M. Ali has shown the world that he stepped into the ring a few times too many, so to see a 60 yr old Sly Stallone trying to still box is just crazy.

Now if it had him coaching some young up & comer that would be different.

At some point in time you really just have to start acting your age.

No way. I for one will never act my age, life is too short to do so.

By the way I have known alot of 60 years olds that would throw alot of the young punks around.

You can be older and still be a great athlete....he is in phenomenal shape.

Rocky Balboa is meant to be an inspirational fictional character about heart and desire. It shouldn't be taken as a real life scenerio much in the way Superman, and Spiderman are not. It is just a movie. One should enjoy the storyline or not if you don't like it, but whether it is enjoyable or not to you should not be based on the age of the main character.

The whole concept of acting your age I don't get. Does this mean that you can not have a good time joking around and such if you are older. I don't see people that are older than me as being any different than me, from a personality standpoint and I relate with them everyday. I don't know what it means to act your age. Living life to the fullest and how you want to live your life is not something that should be exclusive to the young.

I apologize if I have taken this too far but it is just something that bothers me that we have to live differently, or we are seen differently just because we are older. For the record I am 36.

    Sorry for the rant,

very progressive thinking presented here. age discrimination is illegal. its a movie, fictional movie, cant wait to see it, hope its good, I always liked Rocky.

you cant do that you are to old...................poppycock

I might suggest some study of the psychology of transferrance.

Eh, it's a movie. Entertainment. Something I shouldn't have to think too much about.

People attach WAY too much baggage to things. I just want to go to a flick with my wife, eat popcorn and try and cop a feel in the dark.

Societal issues and so forth can be dealt with later.

this movie is going to suck so bad.. you know the plot.. even before seeing the movie.. ( I have not read any reviews about the movie) but i'm sure the story line will go something like this..

movie opens.. shows Rocky as a washed up ex boxer.. sweeping floors at the local boxing gym... ala Million Dollar Baby..

he sees the young boxers and knows he can still beat the snot out of them.. even as over the hill as he is.. he's still got alotta "fight" left in him.

he stuggles in the workouts.. everyone including his grandmother tells him he's stupid to fight _____ world champ.. "you'll get killed Rocky"" Rocky doesn't care.. he's still got a lotta fight left in him.

ok finally he gets the match... but he has to put up his own money for it.

Rocky gets the snot beat out of him.. but in the final rounds of the match.. going against all 1,00000000000 odds.. he finds the "strength" to overcome the huge and fit title holder to win the match.

Rocky is beaten up pretty badly..but still manages a smile for his grandma.

then return Rocky to the nursing home and realize it was all just a dream.. LOL

end of movie.. roll credits (Rocky theme begins to play..) .. filmed in Panavision, color by DeLux.

I hate movies where the "underdog" always wins in the end.. that's why Million Dollar Baby was as good as it was.. the underdog lost. that's reality. we don't always win every match we get into.

Same thing for that Mark Wahlberg movie where he's never played football. but yet manages to make the team? WTF? Yeah, sure.. gimme a break.

    ok. i'm out.

Don't forget, in the original Rocky, the underdog (Rocky) lost.

To all of you getting defensive about "acting your age", I'm actually in complete agreement that you should act however you feel. HOWEVER, a large part of movies, even though they're only entertainment, is character choice, and in a lot of cases believability. The first four Rocky movies (we'll pretend V never happened) weren't exactly plausible, but you get caught up in it and it's not out of the realm of possibility that he could have won. This one? You can act however you want, there's no way the body of a 60-year old is going to stand up to BOXING with a real contender. Just no way. I'm sorry to all of you entering your latter years, but some things are just physical facts of life. Hell, in the first Rocky movie Rocky was 30, and that was considered almost washed up for a boxer.

Don't mean to diss anyone who likes this movie, we all enjoy things on different levels, just trying to say why I (and some others) don't think the concept is good.

Just as Rocky IV ended the Cold War, maybe this movie will squash age discrimination. I can't wait to see this movie, no matter how predictable or implausible it may be; at least it will be entertaining and stir up memories of the original Rocky, one of the best movies I have seen.

Bah humbug! Who wants to grow up? Not me!

Oh yeah, my father doesn't want to either. Still goes to the gym and can still single rep max bench for 305lbs (yes, 305). Oh yeah, he's 75 yo (yes, 75). It's quite amazing actually. For those who may not believe this, too bad. I don't have a video to show nor pictures. Take it or leave it.

Some aspects of life, you do have to grow up, but in reality, stay young at heart till you're in the grave. When that happens, you won't give a sheet!

The problem with Rocky is that it's basically a remake of a 30 year old classic boxing movie (same plot anyways), but instead of using another actor, the same guy is starring in it. WTF?

Yeah, it's fictional, but damn -- at least make it remotely believable. Rocky is not a cartoon character like Superman or Batman; it's not a fantasy movie or horror film. It's suppose to be about an ordinary Joe -- someone most of us can relate to. But a 60 year old who's been out of the fight game for an entire generation gets a shot at taking on the heavyweight champ? C'mon. That's a bit of a stretch. The movie may as well include flying unicorns who help Jack climb the beanstalk to defeat the jolly green giant.

yea, sure and dont feel sorry for me entering the best part of my life, lets face it, older, wiser, more money, more family, more friends, more toys, more face time with the Lord, heck, the list is endless, and I can still pee as far just more accurately.

remember, I got mine, many don't and some never will, but keep trying.

Go Rocky Go.............its a stretch to believe that some rock can kill the mighty Superman but we all know its true. You forget he is Rocky, meat slinger who took out Drago, who had vanquished Apollo, who once beat Rocky down, until he had his redemption on his **** and we cant forget the whuppin Rocky put on Mr. T can we?

Yep, the Rock is the man, however, he should watch out for that Cinderalla girl, she has got Eastwood, maybe Rocky should fight Eastwood?

Hmmmm, another Rocky movie, sounds crazy at his age,but there was George Forman.I saw the trailer,I have to say I may check it out, will you see it?

The "Adrian's restaurant scenes were filmed on the corner of my mother-in-law's block at 13th and Dickinson. The actual restaurant's name that they took over was "The Victor Cafe" a nice little place where they sing opera and show tunes during dining.

I shook Sly's hand he, is no taller than I am 5' 11+". To be honest with you it was a big pain in the butt because streets were closed and the horrendous parking situation down there was made totally intolerable. I probably will wait for the DVD.

Invincible was half fact half fiction motivational movie by Disney. I was around for the Vince Papale days and between Dick Vermiel and Vince Papale they breathed new life into the Eagles and gave us fans something positive to scream about instead of constant booing and screaming in anguish.
