Yes, Paul made me a very fair offer. I agree with you about the looks and the width of the 1000's. The monos are better off set up on the floor than in a rack.Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 * -
Any TAD guys try the 6CA7? Paul has them for $59/5. "A late design, modulating a focused beam of electrons instead of a cloud like older 88’s or 6550’s, so the sound is more detailed and accurate...."
I've got TungSol 6550's in my bass amp and they are candidates for keepers. They didn't work out well in the panel amp. Can't hurt to try the 6CA7's in the bass or panel amp.
Got new IC's too.:D Harmonic Technology Pro Silway MK III Plus. Jim is still working on updating the HT web site. I have a quad of EH 6CA7 and like them a lot. To my ears, they don't sound tubey, good high extension, and low slam. I didn't have chance to try them
on the TAD-60, but they really add dynamic to the vintage Eico HF-87.
BTW, I "borrowed" my brother's TAD-60. I really don't need the extra watts of the monos!! and the 60 looks better, too......
