Tiny Tim rocked it pretty good....for a ukelele player. Didn't he use a violin bow once on his ukelele? Maybe I'm confused ;) .

It was inevitable that the Beatles the first and greatest rock band would take over a greatest rock thread. They invented Rock n Roll. They made sounds to make ol'e folks cringe and young girls jump out of their panties screaming at the top of their lungs in chiffon sweaters. Like TTT they were GREAT!!!!

They even had the first Rock bubble gum cards, I mean come on, it does not get any bigger!!!!!

Twist and Shout on a transistor radio, Dick Clark counting down the top ten....memories from the corner of my mind, oh, wait that's not the Beatles...

Firstly - it is Lynyrd Skynyrd. :)

    My opinion INPO:

    The Clash
    The Jam
    AC DC
    Guns and Roses
    Social Distortion

Of course this is based on what I like and what I consider a Rock band to be.

The Beatles certainly were earthshaking - but I would only consider them in a ground breaking/changing the face of music sense. Just not my bag. And YES - I have listened to them plenty; I own Rubber Soul, The White Album, Sgt. Peppers and a couple of others (on VINYL).

I never understood the whole Nirvana thing - I thought (and still think) that the Screaming Trees and Pearl Jam were better.

    FLAME ON! :p

    Cheers!

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

    Thanks for the correction.

Maybe it's my age, but I have a tendency to view greatness in terms of shaping music industry as much as the quality of thesongs they produced. I chose The Clash over The Ramones because I feel they had more influence, but I personally rather listen to The Ramones.

    Gabba Gabba Hey!

I favor The Clash by a great deal as far as who I prefer to listen to - as for which band had the most impact - that one is too close to call for me.

Didn't mean to be a jerk on the spelling thing - I grew up in a poor neighborhood of a very affluent town. Listening to Southern Rock (and being familiar with the bands) was one thing we wore as a badge of honor to separatw ourselves from the kids that had all the coin. Seemed important then, but now, not so much! :o

I think The Clash had more of an influence on other bands and musicians, but The Ramones had a greater influence among kids buying albums and going to shows...

    just my experience
