Sounds like this movie would have hung itself, but thanks to all the hype from the church, I bet it still sees big numbers. I can't drive down my street without seeing multiple church signs about it.

Amazing how so many religious organizations are flipping out about it. Whole countries are even banning it!

Good lord people, it's a work of fiction!

I bought the book and am reading it. I see it for nothing but entertainment value, which is REALLY good by the way.

Unfortunately, I have a girl that wants me to take her to see it. Gotta satisfy the girly! :D

not that I even go to church, and I am not siding with the churches

but the DVC, kind of blows their core beliefs out of the water, I can see why they are protesting

I like one of his quotes... ''Christianity has survived Galileo and Darwin; it can surely survive Dan Brown."

I think some folks need to get over themselves a little.

No it doesn't. It's a work of fiction that uses historical facts and religous history twisted around to make a very entertaining book.
I read it and really enjoyed it, but as far as finding a deeper truth than what I believe in...no, not even close.

It's a work of fiction that entertains.... nothing more, nothing less.

Right on, Frank. This is definitely much ado about nothing. It's scary a fictional movie could shake someone's faith in the divine, and it's also scary that it would justify someone's non-beliefs in it.

Don't get to wound up, the DVC story (fiction or not, who cares) has the churchs all in an uproar, and I in my dark humor, find it amusing.

Its not shaking peoples faith, its upsetting a bunch of namby pamby judgemental a-holes and unfortunately, those are usually religious people. I have a feeling the vast majority of Christians see this as nothing more than another worthless offering from Hollywood.

I myself am looking forward to seeing it. I love stuff like this. Not the religious part but the idea that a big to-do has been hidden in artifacts thruout history. Thats why I thought National Treasure couldve been so good.....it wasnt but it couldve been.

So true Mac. Like my earlier comment I was looking forward to seeing it b/c I was hoping it would remind me of Raiders Of The Lost Ark, which still stands the test of time as being one of my most favorite films.

I still don't get the protests for this movie. Who cares- If someone of faith loses their faith because of a movie, I would suggest that their faith never existed.

"Stigmata" did a better job of damning churches through its simplicity and factual basis than the DVC. No protests to that one (That I'm aware of)
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

I agree, look what a bunch of cartoons did to the middle east. I love it when an organized religion feels so threatened for survival that they go on the offensive. Makes you think about the strength of the belief itself.

This movie does not attack Christianity or history. It questions a man made version of Christianity and history, in a fictional way.

I'm right there with ya. Ancient mystical artifacts with some hidden secret are awesome stories. From a story standpoint the bible has some great ones. I always liked the whole Noah's Ark thing. The Indiana Jones movies were the best IMO. Raiders....AWESOME!

I love to see all the Christians in a huff about a movie that "slanders" their vision of Jesus. Where are they with all the movies glorifying murder and violence? Do you think Jesus would be more upset about a false story about him, or about senseless violence and MURDER?

    Buncha hypocrites, these religious fanatics.

Are you insinuating that I"m going to hell?

My point is just that if someone believes in the Bible, as these people claim to do, you would think their time would be better spent helping their fellow man, rather than picketing a fictional interpretation of the life of Jesus.

The infamous WWJD - would He defend His image, or spend his energy helping others? If you think the former, I think you missed the point.

I'll try to get some pics of the signs in my neighborhood, sure is a lot of church effort for a movie that is getting awful reviews.

ANYWAY, lets all save this thread for actual reviews by those who have seen it.
