The... umm... instrument cluster kind of reminds me of Mrs. H's 2016 CR-V, which also has a kind of 3D thing goin' on.

That Newport looks quite a bit like the 1961 DeSoto Adventurer diecast car that I have on a shelf about 4 feet from my head as I type this.

Except... that DeSoto has a grill(e) that makes the vehicle look even a notch more hallucinogenic than the Chrysler.
It's almost as if the mushroom-addled stylists from the Aztek program went back in time, did their damage, and then returned to... well... do more damage. #
I remember reading a contemporary description of the Aztek's edgy design, suggesting it looked like a large sketch sheet of the vehicle accidentally got creased -- and no one noticed.

I will say this of the late Virgil Exner-era Chrysler (et al.) designs -- they kind of put many of KIA/Hyundai's odder exercises into perspective.

Also maybe even some of Subaru's more esoteric ventures. Maybe.

So -- my image manipulation skills are meager*, but reflecting on the Aztek led me to see what might happen if one de-creased it.
or
Kind of looks like a Citroën now.

The Aztec and Buick Rendezvous started life as design studies, with the Aztec, being led by men, and the Rendezvous being led by women. Both vehicles failed miserably in the marketplace as just about anything else General Motors did from about 1988 until present day.The Gear... good, good... but the idea was to get rid of that duplication of grilles and lights and stuff above the crease, too.
