Closer inspection shows this record was a special release commissioned by the pharma company Merck Sharp & Dohme to promote their new medication (at the time), Elavil (generic Amitriptyline). That med has certainly stood the test of time.We've all seen the plethora of pharmaceutical commercials on TV these days, but today I found a pharma ad inside the gatefold of an old album cover. Appropriately, the ad was for an antidepressant inside a blues album.
