This appears to be a "bobwhite" quail(?!). I am guessing (guessing, mind you) that perhaps it was locally raised, and is an escapee. Kind of a Chicken Run thing, you know?

There’s a mini mall in our neighborhood where I sometimes pick up food orders. Half of the parking spaces are in front of the stores. The other half are closer to the street and are all marked compact as they are both shorter and slightly narrower than the others.

Every time I go there, the errant vehicles are a Dodge Charger, a Camaro, a Suburban and another big SUV parked straddling the double lines separating two compact spaces each, because they couldn’t fit otherwise, or if they did, someone else might park close enough to door ding them. The end of the vehicles stick out 2 ft. from the spaces, making it more difficult for other vehicles in the non-compact spaces to maneuver.

There is non-metered street parking that is always available, but that would mean walking 100-150 ft. from the vehicle to the destination.

They obviously don’t believe in karma. 🤷‍♂️

LOL'd at the thought of that. I could drive a few miles north to Hicksville, PA and watch their heads implode.

I agree, I had one as big as a monarch butterfly on the side of my old garage. Impressive creatures.

Yep, until he opened his wings, I wasn’t quite sure.

No, but he did impede the start time of my baby backs …. er, uh … smoked carrots a little while I finagled the cover off with him on it!

He sat out in the sun there for a couple hours and either flew away, or … got eaten while I wasn’t looking.
