    ^^^ That's what I'm talkin' about!
That was a Toyota Tercel variant, wasn't it?
One of the Tappet Brothers (EDIT: Tappet Brother Ray Magliozzi, per Google) claimed to have had, if memory serves, a Dodge Colt Vista. Not quite as much panache as the above, but still on the spectrum. :)

EDIT: I suffered a catastrophic water pump failure in my '84 Chevy Cavalier hatchback one day driving to work in Cambridge, MA. Our purchasing agent's boyfriend was a mechanic in the garage next to our company's extremely modest HQ building in Cambridgeport. She got him to fix it for me. I only found out after I picked up the car that he worked in the (the) "Good News Garage", which was, as I understood it, operated as a sort of mechanics' co-op under the aforementioned Magliozzis.

Was it both of them who had crazy laughs, or just one? I used to get a good laugh at with those guys when I'd listen sometimes.

Ray was the noisier one. I guess Tom was deteriorating due to cognitive decline for his last few years. Heck, even their reruns are better to listen to than much current programming. Yeah -- I'm old.

Finally, a weather report that's accurate! Only took humankind between five million and seven million years to pull off. Bravo Larry!

That looks a bit like Mt Rainier....When I lived up there, we'd see a cloud over the peak quite often, of course not quite as cool as this though.

I’m not a physical media guy, and haven’t used physical media in years for audio or video, but I can still appreciate the potential veracity of this statement. 😂

Apple TV makes it a lot easier than Google, and I don’t subscribe to seven services, but there are still limitations to how it works. 🤦‍♂️

Some services like Netflix won’t even let users manage their subscription from within Apple TV (a Netflix website login is required instead). Sling is similar. I can understand that they don’t want to pay Apple the 15-30% of subscription fees for that, but the end result is that I rarely activate my subscription at all because I can’t turn it on or off conveniently with with my Apple ID. The end result in my case is that they are definitely losing tons of potential revenue. 🤷‍♂️

It used to be so much easier to browse and make selections on streaming platforms. And then they started trying to get creative, and completely ruined everything with their stupid UI redesigns, limited content while letting you see what you could be able to watch if you upgrade upgrade-upgrade, or accept ads.

Over the past two or three years I've realized that I exhaust myself just browsing crap content in a tedious, inefficient browser, to the point that I'm no longer in the mood to watch anything at all, by the end, and so I don't.

I wondered at times whether it's the same business model as overselling a gym to just get your money, while making it unpleasant enough to make you stop using it, and they can sell more memberships.

Netflix DVD at least you got what you wanted to watch. Owning physical media, though? While I have some favorites, I prefer not to amass a catalog. One thing I do miss is bonus content and accurate pause rewind and frame advance. Can't do that with streaming.

This world's de-evolution is accelerating. The handbasket industry must be booming, though. I just hope I get a nice quality one for my trip to hell. Not one of those poorly made Amazon import jobs to give me splinters, jab me, or have the bottom fall out. I prefer going to hell in comfort, enjoying nuanced refinements.

Who would have ever thought that getting in your car and driving to Blockbuster was an easier way to find a movie?

Well… the choice at Blockbuster was more limited, and they could run out of some titles, whereas streaming is almost unlimited for choice and availability.

Physical media all the way here. My fellow installers when I worked at Bjorns A/V called it direct media.

Streaming is convenient for sure but I'll always dig my BR and CD players.

One of the other things I like about physical media is that I can loan it to friends & family.

Well, most people probably realize I wasn’t being literal. Kind of a tongue in cheek statement that sitting on your couch and finding a movie should be miles better than having to drive and pick out a movie, but it’s not miles better, it’s only slightly better. I honestly don’t watch many movies because finding something to watch is such a beating.

The streaming posts above got me to thinkin'.
Do you have to rewind the streaming videos when you're finished? You know, like videotapes -- and DVDs?
    Askin' for a friend.

Oh, while I'm thinkin' about it. Is it OK to use a regular DVD rewinder on Blu-ray DVDs?
