Open Baffle, or Open Laughle?
I do wonder how that sounds, though. Definitely'd need a sub.
I also wonder what the driver screws are attached to. Maybe a balsa wood airplane kit backer?

I had no idea Sony made speakers like this. Your photo got me curious, as I had never seen a speaker like this before. Looks like a Sony SS R10. They were a custom order only pair of speakers, only available in Japan back in the 90's. They apparently were expensive, didn't go down beyond 33 Hz and were a very power hungry speaker.
http://www.thevintageknob.org/sony-SS-R10.htmlThe Vintage Knob wrote:Part of the exclusive, ****-rare and utterly unobtainium R10 set of units, the electrostatic SS-R10 loudspeaker may well be Sony's most rare unit.
Unlike many high-end products, make that ultra-high end outer space byproducts, the dipole SS-R10 didn't boast a super-conductive membrane from planet Mars or a newly developed directionality controller made after a thorough study of the bat's sonar and wings movements.
Nope - the SS-R10 loudspeaker just took on the (very old) electrostatic theory and pushed it enough to overcome its well-known problems and shortcomings.
Although most high-end units from Sony were developed in a colloquial way, the SS-R10 was a one-man project, as the earlier SS-G333ES and SS-G777ES had been.

Open Baffle, or Open Laughle?
I mean -- even I used wood... for my Open Laughable Laughle.
EDIT: Oh, heck. I forgot to include the front view. The little pedestal (formed, as may be obvious, from the piece of wood I hacked out of the board to clear the LS-8 twincone driver) wasn't quite big enough to counterbalance the OB. A large rock took care of that.

Does anybody else notice Delta's flight paths chart indicating the "when you're ready" stages?
It reminds me of some weather formations that weather people show. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
