Selling My House

I guess it was written on the wall. It looks like I am going to have to sell my house as my guy and I are breaking up. I just told him that things needed to change and tried to talk to him but he just is not willing to communicate and work things out. I have been trying with him for a year. I have given him space. I have given him affection. Nothing. I figure after a year of someone not returning my love and affection that it's time to redeem my self respect. I LOVE my house but I just can't stay here and lose my dignity. I want to cry and I am sure I will because their is no way I can afford a house like this on my own. I am wondering if I should sell my HT stuff or just keep it in storage while I rent for a while to save $$$$ to buy again...?

Can you really not afford it on your own? I was in the same boat with my divorce, and the 'smart' thing was to sell, and get out.

I just couldn't do it, and I've had to work a little harder, and make a few small sacrifices, but the house is SO worth it. I'd be miserable if I had sold it.

    Hang in there.

Cut your losses, re-evaluate and move on, F him. I would try and keep the home if at all possible. Either way good luck.

    maybe get a room mate?
If someone was around to help out with the bills you might be able to hang on for awhile longer or at least long enough to show him you can go on without him.
as for the gear I would think wherever you go you can set up your system at least partially so hang onto it.

Obviously not a dirty cop or 4k would not be a problem.

Perhaps you can become a dirty cop?

Sorry to hear Wing. I suspect its hard no matter what you choose. A second job, a renter, sell? Well, I will store for you but its quite a ways.

Maybe, someone closer has some room if need to be?

Ha. NO! NEVER! I have of duty jobs in my name I could work but that would only add $1600.00 a month. His name is on the Mtg. though so I doubt he would leave it like that and just sign a quit claim. I definitely know I could not get the financing just in my name.

I don't know who would rent a room for 2K ..he he

I am gonna keep my gear. Eff him.

Very sorry to hear, but it sounds like you did all you could. F him is right. You could get a nice house for a 2K mortgage, so shop around and build anew. Good luck with that, and then dealing with the emotional stuff too. :(

Very sorry to hear of your problems, better you find out now rather than later. Having a house complicates things, but it is better now than after marriage and children.

As far as Ideas to help you out of your financial situation....

    1) Sounds like you have a good stock market thing going - just a few incredible trades away from owning the house for good.

    2) You could host the next PolkFest and charge a cover to get in the door.

    3) If nothing else, think of how well your Ultra2 will pressurize an apartment. :D

Damn Darla, I'm sorry to hear this. KEEP YOUR GEAR! I think you should try to make a clean break & sell the house. Hopefully with your half you should be able to find something that you can afford.

Thats bad news. Make sure you get half of the profit out of the house at least. Whatever happens you can always get a new house or more equipment later. I'd recommend not selling all your stuff just to stay an extra few months. Good luck to you.

If the guy is on the mortgage, I assume he is on the house title since you mentioned the quit claim thing. Discuss it with him if you havent, but the minute he becomes a d*ck (and it sounds like he will) your just gonna have to right it off and sell the house, hopefully you guys will each pocket a bit of equity to move on, but dealing with this guy on any other level regarding the house without a clean getaway plan isnt going to be worth it. its a crappy deal, and it sucks you have to go through it.

Sorry to hear but it happens for a reason, Darla! I vote in keeping your gears. It's your hobby, and unless you need the money, it is something that will make you happy.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Sorry to hear Wingnut.....I think we've all been there. I just realized I have been divorced 7 years now. The room-mate thing is good short term fix until you've had a chance to decide what you want/can do. I would definetly store most of the HT pieces if you end up moving. You've taken pride your system and if it's paid for keep it, you'll use it again in the future.

If you have to get an apartment for awhile just use the Lsi 9's and part of your set-up for a nice 2-ch rig. All I can say is don't be hasty in your decision to move. I know financially it may put you against the wall to make a quick decision. Look at all options and then decide. If you have equity in the home you might not be too bad off. I know you've put a lot of time and effort in the HT room, but if you buy another house you can do it all over again, that's cool....right?

    H9

P.s. On a lighter note if you start watching the Shield (as you mentioned in another thread) they will show you how to make a lot of extra money on the side. :D:p

    Wingnut,

Been there, done that, on the other side but the best thing to do is sell and start over, memories are everywhere, the biggest thing for me was realizing that i could make it on my own, clean break, new stuff, could not be happier, it sounds simple and is very difficult at first but time heals all wounds, I know. Store the gear for now, then make your decision later on as as to keeping it or selling it, it's a very nice set-up. Hope everything works out for the best.

July '05, unless realestate prices are soaring in your area, you will be lucky to sell and still be in the black -but still- You still have your job and your health so you have that. Don't get too attached to the "stuff" as you can always get it back. I would recommend you selling the house and moving on.

Yes, keep looking out for yourself at this point. He maybe doing the exact same thing you are, just biding his time. I know nothing about what you've gone thru or where exactly it went wrong, but one thing I learned after my break-up (divorce) is that I became a little bit more selfish going forward (not in a bad way). It's time to put your priorities first in case in the end it doesn't work out. I'm all for putting in as much effort as it takes to work thru things, but sometimes it's just not meant to be.

    Good luck
