Have you posted less than 15 times? Now is a good time to up that number! I'm interested in what type of equipment you are using and why you chose polk loudspeakers or visit the polk site! New people are always more interesting to post with because they know way more than they are willing to post at first. Lets hear it, what do you have? Lurking in the backround is OK but once you get into posting it is a lot more fun for all of us!!!

Agreed, there are a LOT of folks lurking that have forgotten more about audio then most of us will ever now....Help me get my learn on....
Big DUMB TroyI plan for the future. - F1Nut -
About twelve years ago I owned a pair of Polk SDA-2B's which were powered by a rack full of Carver gear (M1.5t @ 500Watts per channel!). I got laid off and had to sell everything for pennys on the dollar to feed the family and pay rent.
I started getting back into this little hobby a few years ago, and found that I was really behind the curve when it came to multi-speaker setups, receivers, etc. Learning about all of the new technology was almost as much fun a buying new equipment. I'm no expert, but I know what I like. -
Don't know why, but my post appeared twice.
-
I'm shy I mainly lurk and learn. I'm also not very
experienced in internet "know how"- not good w/links,posting pics, etc. (don't even know how to use our scanner & printer ) - so I rarely post, just read.
I've been a 2 chnl Polk man all my life (Monitor 7b/Monitor 10) so I feel comfortable posting on this board, but rarely others. present 2 chnl is a Carver amp and Carver preamp - no tuner,5 disc Sony ES cd changer,Sony md deck, old school Jvc DD turntable w/assorted pickering/shure/grado cartridges, big old Jvc "boombox" from the late '70's (takes like 10 million "d" batteries  - did I really used to carry that monster around the streets, listening to Sabbath and Tull, while intoxicated on assorted substances!? )
which I use as a tape deck, Adcom ace-515 line conditioner,Grado sr-80 and Sony mdr v6 'phones
after months of research, I got into HT
I have learned much more! now I also have rt800/cs400i/rt551/rt25i and an Outlaw 1050 receiver,Jvc prog scan,Sony digital cable box,hi def ready Toshiba.
still calibrating and making Polk wires every so often (been fooling w/biwiring lately ) fool around w/Polk placement daily and consume large quantities of alcohol based beverages (mostly Molson Ice, but dabble in many others! - I highly reco "Bigfoot" if u can find it.)
You are all very helpful and all knowing! thanx for your combined help and suggestions.

Unfortunately, I've never even owned a set of polk speakers. Although I have gotten in trouble for drooling on them at circuit city a few times.. I've never owned a truly good system..but I'll be changing that *hopefully soon* by purchasing the DS7200 I'm just a novice audiophile who adores several types of music and excellent sound equpiment. Afterall, unaltered music is the best music. *which is why I'm loyal to polk technology*

Well, I had to reply to this post (just to see the count of how many times I have posted), but I know I qualify....Been lurking around here for a couple of years...learning MUCH, saying little!
I primarily run a 2 channel setup (although I can 'recable' the interconnects and make it 5.1). My fronts are Polk SDA 1.2s driven by a pair of Carver M1.0s (bridged for 1000 watts each). Although it's 2 channel, I also use my rears (by splitting the signal to the amps) which are Polk SDA 2.3s driven by a single Carver M4.0 (with 375 watts). I absolutely LOVE this setup, and couldn't be happier with it!!! Thanks for all the info everyone...Keith -
craverk,
What the heck is a Polk SDA 3.2???
I have the Polk SRS SDA 3.1 - surely, that is what you must have meant. Correct?
Woops... I see you have edited your response.
You have the 2.3's not the 3.1's. That makes sense.
MY GOD, YOU HOME THEATRE IS ABSOLUTELY HUGE ! ! !
Let me count em.... Qty=28, 6-1/2" drivers. WOW ! ! !
-
Just can't type...I edited the original post...should've been 2.3...KC
-
Yes, all those drivers can 'move some air', but I have them in a fairly large room w/ vaulted ceilings, so in my case it seems to "work"! I've even stopped 'tweaking', and now just listen...KC
-
Stopped tweaking!? I can only hope for the day...Welcome to my home, enter of your own free will and leave a bit of the happiness that you bring. -D

As I look back on the date of the last reply, looks like this one hasn't been touched in a while. Here is my input for those who care
The reason why I like and now own Polk speakers is because my wife bought them for me for Christmas last year.
To back track,
Since we just bought a new house (2002), I figured we needed some sort of sound system. So like any thing I'm interested in I start dropping suttle clues well in advance to actually wanting to go out and buy it ( just my way of letting her know so its not a big surprise when I come home with it one day). So anyway, I guess I forgot about the sound system, then on Christmas morning I wake up and to my childish surprise I see a bunch of very large boxes. Thus my new found love, Audio (Polks are my first). Not knowing a whole lot about speakers, my wife actually went in to the store looking for a system in a box type setup, but the guy talked her out of it and recommended Polk Audio, which I'm very glad he did. Thanks who ever you are.
So here is what she bought me,
Receiver: Yamaha 5560
CSI 30 (since added a rear CSI-30)
PSW-202 (since added a PSW-404)
R20 (rears)
RTI-38 (fronts)
And so starts my addiction, -

Hmm, I believe I have more than 15 posts.....
Infact, I could put 15 in my post count about 213 times....go figure
I chose Polk speakers.......
well I'll tell ya why honestly.....
They had good specs, looked good, and were pretty cheap for what they offered. In other words, I asked my Dad what he thought of "Polk Audio" and he said...they made a good speaker.
So i set out, to buy some RT35i, and a Sony (yes Sony, AGH) receiver. A couple months later, I had it! Yes, the start of my addiction. Sure enough, 2 weeks after having the sony.....I sold it...
Yeah, 5 months later It was summer, I worked 7-8 weeks straight, for 8-9 hours a day in the blistering hot sun...oh yeah now were talking
That summer I got a yammer hammer receiver, RT25i, and a CS245i, cd player, and a subwoofer
and other various things
I had that system, ol for about a year with no change....
So i purchased an Adcom amp...yeah, guess what? My receiver didnt have preouts! So what did I do? I bought another receiver with preouts, and sold my yamaha...
So then, i upgraded that, got a new dvd player, and started my road to seperates........
Airplay and I were talking on the net and he says, I bet you can fit towers in your room if your rearrange it...so I spend 7 hours messing around with my room.....
Next day I sell my RT25i and CS245i to WoodyJacobs and I purchase the RTi70 about a week later...
I also forgot to mention the countless amounts of amps I obtained between that time....lmao
Turns out, by the time it was over.......... I had a 9 channel 5 channel rig, and still upgrading!
I would love to have bookshelf centers, but yet.....I'd have to buy ANOTHER AMP....so nope no more
Next upgrade is a new subwoofer.....so......yeah
Polk makes KILLER speakers, seen how much R&D they put into this mess, and I will forever reccomend Polk to everyone. Their quality is unmatched for the $$$.
All you polksters with polk rigs out there, you rock on! I know I am! Everytime I hear my system, I got a smile on my face! You should too! lol
- Sid- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I don't post too much because I'm a little shy and too lazy to type. I lurk around here learning everything I can from you guys. I also like to log on just to hear what's going on. I'm really just into old-school two channel but also have a HT set-up. I swap out equipment and speakers alot. I'm playing around with tubes now (Dynaco ST70) but still like the punch of SS. Why am I a Polk junkie? I love the sound of Polk speakers. ( I do own a few too many sets.) Right now I have:
Pair old (1979) Monitor 7 (need repair)
Pair mint cond. Monitor 7C in factory boxes.
Pair old Monitor 10 (need repair)
Two pair mint cond. Monitor 10bs.
Pair mint cond. Monitor 8T
Pair SDA CRS good cond.
Pair SDA CRS mint cond. with polk stands.
One single SDA CRS to use for HT.
Pair Mint cond. SDA 1.2tl
One Polk PSW 1200
One Polk CS150
(along with KEF's, Klipch, Dynaco, Acutex, JCV, Fisher, Radio Skack...)
Listing to Monitor 8T's powered by an old Yamaha RX 300u I found at the thrift shop the other day along with a working NAD 5040 turntable. The NAD needs a needle but seems to work fine. Paid $4 for the NAD and $15 for the Yamaha. The 8T were given to me by my Dad over the Holiday . He never used them because of his Bose (puke) HT. Now when I fire up the old 1.2tl's with some vacuum tubes I'll back in Heaven. I love the 1.2tl's and want to make the bass-brace for them. ( My house is built on a slab do I need the bass brace?) I really like the SDA effect, but then hearing straight two-channel is also nice). Like I said before, I like to play around with different set-ups. One thing I don't have is a NEW set of Polks, but I do have to say the vintage Polks Rock. (and NO nothing is for sale!). Almost forgot one thing...GO EAGLES!! -

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
First off let me say thanks to all that do post, have learned alot in the past year. And spent alot too. Last year I ended up with SVS sub, rt55s, and pair of f/x1000. Now waiting to replace my Yamaha r-v 1103 to a Denon 3803? Not sure yet.
First set of polks were rt16, bought at crutchfield on sale, could not belive the sound that those speaker put out. After that I was hooked. Wish I would have bought more at the time. Would like to try a external amp to see what they really could sound like.
Thanks Again to all,
