I`m looking for SQ in my 325i/M3..
I want to get rolling, but I can only get the db`s from my local CC, and have to order the momo`s at more cost..
C400.4 is the amp, a C500.1 with one 10" momo sub, maybe a 12"...not sure yet

I need to get off the fence and get busy soon though..
I will be dynamating today, but want to get the amps installed also...

brettw22`s install is the driving force behind all this lately...
    Thanks alot brett..!!!

If you get a 400.4, 500.1, and a 10" or 12" MOMO sub, db speakers would be very out of place. (Not that they would stand out sound wise...the MOMO series speakers would just be a better match.) Yes they sound better. Yes they're better. And yes, if you're putting them in a BMW, they're worth it.

    Get the MMC6500!

    6500`s won`t fit..
    5.25`s in the front
6x9`s in the rear deck....or I could put the 6500`s in the rear deck, but it`s just a little fill back there anyway..

I thought about the 4x6`s in the rear

Nah, don't put the MMC6500 in the back. Are you sure they won't fit up front? I would look into the possibility of making a spacer of sorts to make them fit. But if they still won't, go for the MMC5250.

The Momos are built better and more durable. They have a much better crossover as well and they sound a lot better. You get your moneys worth and then some.

Ebay is a bad thing. Buy from an authorized retailer. Sounddomain.com is one of the best places to shop. They have the entire Polk line and you can get them with free shipping. Better yet, they are fully authorized so not only will you be supporting Polk but you also get Polk's full blessing and warranty and you can be assured of getting first line, new in the box equipment.

The MMC5250 would be a great choice for the front speakers and the MMC690's are an excellent choice for the rear. I owned a set of the 690's for over a year and think they are the best sounding 6x9 on the market!

Get the 5250 and the 690 and power them with the 400.4. Then if youre only wanting a single sub, the best match would be the MM2124SVC and a 300.2.

Q Logic makes some good boxes but just make good and damn sure theyre not made from PLASTIC! Q Logic is famous for making plastic boxes so make sure its an MDF box.

Another good option is to visit your local shop. They will have plenty of premade boxes of high quality thatll fit your needs and better yet, they could whip up a custom fit box for you for not much more than the price of a premade one. It wont be fancy fiberglass with neon and all but it would be built to snuggly fit in your ride and take up as little space as possible and I seriously doubt if itd run ya over $200.

You could use the 500.1 for a 2124 but youd only be using half its power. Not that thats a bad thing, just that with a stereo amp you be getting more of your moneys worth.

Yes. The older generation Momo's sound pretty much like the new ones. The biggest difference in the two was power handling. The MM1's were rated to handle considerably more power than the MM2's.

Another good trick for the rear panel is to cut out a piece of 1/2"-3/4" MDF and mount it to the underside of the deck. This will increase the rigidity of it and also make a great mounting surface for the rear speakers and basically eliminate any vibrations from the panel to the speaker.

If not, a liberal dose of Dynamat will work wonders too.

I had the polk db series in my truck, before I upgraded to the momo series. The momo series is much better than the db series. They are much cleaner at high volume for one. They are twice as loud for two. The bass is a lot fuller and punchy for three. So pretty much everything is better than the db series.

    iwork,

I guess if what you are looking for is a sub that will pound out Rap music then
I suppose the Momo's aren't for that... But some of us prefer more "Musical"
music, with a bass line that is more than generated from a computer.

For some of us the Momo's are just fine and dandy.

Momo subs are nice subs for the money. There are better subs out there but they cost a lot more. You won't find a better sounding sub for a 100 bucks than the momo series.

    cam,

I can't argue with that... There are some small companies (non mainstream)
that do make better subs but you have to be in the know, to even know who
they are. My Home Theater sub for example uses a 12" aluminum cone driver
(real machined aluminum, not aluminum plated plastic) and has 23mm of Linear
One Way excursion (results via DUMAX) and I paid $140.00 for the driver.

But it's from a company most people have never heard of :)

Another tip I just found out when I got my MMC5250s ... if you get the 400.4 amp, it says in the manual that is the ONLY amp that you can use with the MMC5250s to use as active crossover vice passive. I don't know all the advantages to that since I get all my help from these same guys answering your questions beardog, but I'm sure there are benefits of it. I'm sure some of these guys can chime in on that.
