...a hardcore purist?

I really want some damn remote volume control. Already started window shopping tonight. Big deal, right? Get some remote linestages. Therein lies the problem. I have MELOS SHA-1's. What did The Absolute Sound say about them? I'll tell you what they said - they said 'I doubt one could do substantially better, at any price.' Why do you think I have two of them?

Maybe I should do some reading up on Telekenisis, and moving **** with my brain. Maybe I won't need a remote afterall. This is going to keep me up at night.

Cheers,
Russ

If it doesn't have a remote feature, I'm really not interested...I know it sucks, and it makes me lame, but I don't care.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Screw that....

Get one of those handicap scooters from the scooter store. Instead of a listening chair, use one of those.

In a smaller room, I've done a wedge / 9 iron, with a suction cup on the end (thanks Troy), but I'm 15 ft from my gear in the rig with the line arrays.

Scooter Store? Man, I'm going to end up there soon anyway, I'm not in any hurry. I just hope they have one with a pocket for my handle of Beam.

Dark side? Only thing that will be dark is the inside of my wallet, making up for the quality of what I have now, and incorporating my laziness at the same time. Sound will never be compromised for features, that is my hypocratic oath.

    Cheers,

A monkey is the only answer. They can be trained to get beer as well. I think I saw one trying to roll a number once, but it could have just been my buddy Dave. Shrooms will do that to ya'.

Yup, the Wilson Staff remote RULES. I've discontinued use as it doesn't work well if you are spinning vinyl, obviously.

Wow, good to see someone else struggling with the remote volume preamp frustration. Although nowhere near the level of gear Russ is dealing with, trying to replace my Parasound P/HP-850 with a preamp with remote volume and that is a step up in sound has proved difficult. When you work at home several days a week, a preamp with remote volume is essential for when the phone rings!

I think Shack, 16 days into the new year, wins the award for best post 2006. G'head and have the plaque made, it's all downhill from here.

    Russ,
Another option is to keep the Melos and just get a cd player with a volume control (like the Cal Audio CL-15 that I have). Great sounding cd player and actually I'm running mine straight into my tube amp with no pre right now. Works good with the Melos in there too. The Cal Audios come up on Agon every once and a while. Back in its day it was like a $1,500+ cd player and still runs with and maybe better than any other cd player I own right now. If you find one and don't like it you won't have any trouble selling it. Nothing to lose man.

*edit* The CL-20 doesn't have a digital volume control like the CL-15
