I've been playing on and off for over 25 years now, but never really got as good as I've wanted I just picked it up on New Years for the first time in almost a year because a friend of a friend came over and he happened to jam (I don't have anyone to sit and jam with any more, so I just don't seem to play).
I currently have a decent stock, but nothing to fancy. I current line up include:
A Mexican Strat (seems to sounds as good as the American)
A Sheridan II that just plays phenomenally
An old washburn acoustic that still sounds great (my first guitar from 86)
A fender classical
An old epiphone elelctric (that sounds like a piece of tin)
Hondo 12 string (crapola)
A musicman bass (crapola)
A Fender bass
A couple of other things with strings (just handing on the wall)
And a semi hollow I made myself (it has active reflex pickups and actually sounds really nice).
I'm playing through a Fender American Tube amp, but also have a handful of others I picked up over the years (include an old ampeg that really cranks).
I think I may pick up the guitar again and start practicing all the tunes Ive learned over the years. Im hoping a new Taylor 310-CE will get me motivated (Ive been saving my quarters for the past few years and I think I have about $1200).Denon AVR-3803

I'm going back to guitar lessons to brush up on my scales and theory. It's been a very long time since I have read a sheet of music.
It's exciting.

Mike's collection is REALLY cool, fo sho.
Brush up on scales and theory? Relearn how to read music?
Geeze Dan, the way you made it sound, you were jamming with the Allman Brothers and ****.
Do you put the little colored dots on the neck to know where your fingers go on Camptown Races?

No matter how many years you have played, no matter how much you know, going back to the basics is always a good thing. There is always something to learn. Yes I started playing at the age of 9 , but over the last 13 years I haven't played much at all. I put it down. Now I'm wanting to get back into it.
Once it's in you, it's always in you. I wanna find a really good Jazz and classical guitar teacher. My playing style is well was Heavy metal. I want to experience more.
You find somthing wrong with that?

My targeted hour of play a day is roughly 1/3 scale practice (one major, on 7th over, and one 9th augmented). I don't read music and the scale practice keeps me sharp on improvisational play -- especially lead riffs out of vamping.
As the old joke goes: How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice man, practice!
Enjoy!! -
Mantis,
I would be honored to listen to your playing any day this year. Or next...

Way back in the day I used to play bass. I was in several bands over the high school years and college. I have been telling myself that one of these days I'm going to get back into it again.
The amp I had was an "original" Ampeg tube amp, thing must have been about a hundred pounds. Hardest thing I had to do was sell it. After I moved out here to Cali, I was the starving student going to tech school and a P/T job was barely cutting it so i had to sell it for rent.
Here are a few pics...
We where opening for a band called "Ashes To Ashes" at a small club in Greentree, in the Pittsburgh PA area.SYSTEM
