    Look in the Clubhouse.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Hey all, I'm a new member here and I'm glad that this thread was made 5 years ago!!

Anyhow, I just graduated to floorstanders from satellites and I couldn't be happier so far! I had the Mirage Nanosat Prestige 5 speaker system with my old Athena sub. For satellites, the Nanosat Prestige's were awesome, but they can't compare to my new Polk setup!

What I ended up getting just a few days ago were two Monitor Series II 60's for my fronts, the CS1 Series II for my center and two R300's for my rear surrounds. I still have my old Athena sub thrown into this mix. My receiver is my old faithful Onkyo TX-SR604.

I am happy to say that I am super pleased with this setup so far! I paid $383 for all 5 speakers before tax, probably a bit over $400 when all said and done. I thought it was a very good deal considering I got my Mirage 5 speaker system for $500 used about 4 years ago. And it sounds much better than that setup too of course.

I ran Audyssey through my Onkyo to set this new system up. Is anyone here familiar with Onkyo receivers? I just want to make sure that Audyssey did a good job or if I should just do it all manually. It set all of my speakers up to "Full Band". Is that correct? It also put my fronts at +8db and my center at +6db.

Anyhow, I look forward to hearing some feedback! Thanks!

"No" to the Full Band. I have a Denon receiver but it also has Audyssey. I run the Audyssey auto setup and I usually don't touch any setting afterwards. It does a better job than I can do manually. However, I set all speakers to "small" and cross them over at around 80Hz which lets the powered sub take care of the low frequencies. This is what most of us do here. For those who set their speakers to Full Range they're usually using a preamp or external amp to be able to properly power all drivers.

I also have the M60II's like you and I really like them. They are a great bargain and I feel one would have to spend over $1,000 to get sound that would "blow away" the 60's. That's why I'm looking at Martin Logan ESL's.

Good luck with the hobby. We're all here ready to help you spend your money!
