I guess these are a bit too obscure. I grew up with them, but it's possible not everyone else did. Music is funny like that! I'll give it another half day and post the answer.

All of these are too obsure for me...never heard a single track from any of them (unless it was on the radio and I was not aware of the artist or album) I was able to guess the Japan album ONLY after the clues and remembered a band by the name and did a quick search.

Last time I was over, I did a Johnny Mnemonic while breezing through Media Monkey in album view mode on your PC. All 4TB+ of your music is in my brain. I'm still working on the paths for instant and total recall.

If you like adult alternative/pop, check out The Blue Nile. They have been around since '81. Linn Electronics initially wanted them to do one track to showcase their high end gear. They liked the music so much that Linn actually formed their own record label in order to release The Blue Nile's debut album A Walk Across the Rooftops. Good stuff.

Rich- I think you showed me this album the first time I was over at your place (maybe I just saw it as I was flipping through your stacks). It is:

Robert Palmer / Maybe It's Live

    Reminds me of Donnie Darko!

Good job! It was bound to happen. There are actually three different covers for this album. Most know the two for the CD; one is similar to the LP. I'd bet on Steve knowing the LP.

This band originally formed in '64 and hails from New York. They started as a cover band with a different name before moving on to their own mix of rock, pop and blues. Kind of obscure, but they have opened for some big acts and some of their stuff made the airwaves. In '69 they released their self titled debut album. The bands name could be considered contradictory, just ask the pied piper. The album tiltle contains the opposite of our demise.
