It's here! Yes you read it right! Looks cool, seperate power supply is connected via a couple of feet of wire and housed in a heavy little box. Supplied tubes are JJ E88CC. To bad all I can listen to it with are a wonderful set of Radio Shack Minimus 7's and my Yamie Sub Woffer till I get her home. It looks great, but the packing could use some refinement! THANK YOU GARY!

    Happy NewYear all!

Mine made it and after it made room temp I plugged up the JJs then all is good with the world. The soundstage is back better than ever before.

I did have a hum but it was the surge protector my gear was plugged to.
    New protector fixed it.

Congrats, and after a little more burn in, it gets even better. Get yourselves some Amperex tubes or some other vintage nos tubes of your choice. I've also had decent results with Groove Tubes and Electro-Harmonix new production tubes.

I think you'll find it was worth the wait.

Post some pics, I'd like to see what it looks like with the seperate ps,

I am about knee deep in some Chrome Smoke & B-B-Q - that little band from Texas along with the 1/2 gallon of Crown that Santa brought. When I get where I can operate the camera I will shoot it if John hasnt already.

I'll snap a few photos tomorrow as I left my camera at work. So far I have to say I like it. It has a noticable change in sound as I've been listening tonight. Can't say it's a whole lot better then my Mc 34V but voices seem warmer. Sound stage is not quite as wide as the Mc and not as much power in the low base but it's only been on a few hours. I'm not sure how long Gary let them burn in but not for the normal 100 hrs last I read. I'm going to leave it powered up for a few days and listen as I can. In all fairness the Mc was $2400. 1991 dollars so this little guy is so far very impressive and I'm sure with some time will be prove to be an improvement. As for tubes I'm going to play the JJ's for a while then try the EH's I ordered and maybe if I can find some extra $ get something Old School ;) Maybe something from here?http://www.upscaleaudio.com/view_category.asp?cat=42

Let the JJ's burn in a bit, I don't think Gary did anywhere near the normal burn in on those last few.

    Cheers,
    Russ

I think you right about both Russ. I like the tubeness of them already. Sound stage is getting wider and bass is coming around. I'm going to burn um in till I get home tomorrow eve and listen again.

for the new owners, they gotts give it some break in time, and perhaps roll tubes, before you get a reliable review. If you need some reviews and impressions quick, do a search on this forum for the Dodd ELP. youll find a ton of stuff. Lots of people, myself included, have this pre and love it. I genuinly havent heard anyone complain about them yet.
