Nice to see most all the tree lots in my area are selling "Christmas Trees" per their signs.

In my "horrible horrible, bad teachers, horrible corrupted minded students" public school...

We have a moment of silence every day as school starts. We say the pledge with the word God in it. We say prayer before Football games. We have a very respected group of people with low violence, little to no drug use, and its overall a fine group of kids that go to my school.

We can discuss god, christmas, easter WHATEVER we want. No one is going to stop us. We even have a Bible Class. We also pray before lunch, have CYC meetings before school and "meeting at the pole" for praise and worship.

The rules of a Public school are SIMPLE, a TEACHER or a State Employee at the school can NOT lead any students into prayer. A teacher/etc can not push their beleifs on another student. They can only discuss and show the facts.

Public School is NOT that bad. Dangit. *So annoying*

    Im now... unoffended.

The state has NO authority over what we as students can discuss, we are NOT on their pay roll. This is NOT China. We can talk about anything we want as long as it dosnt lead to violence or something...

The Teachers, etc are the ones restricted. As for wearing Christmas colors.. if its part of the dress code rules... well... there ya go.

Keep in mind, you live in Carolina. It's a little different if you're not in the South - people are much more uptight about (non)religion. Not meant to be an insult or anything, I'm just sayin, it's much more common to hear of these PC-gone-amok stories in the Northeast, or California.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

If you have a child in school, it will take on a totally different meaning to them after 12 years of being told it is politically incorrect and somewhat offensive. This bothers me because these are the future leaders.
If the 12 years of school practices bare more importance to the child than what their parents have taught them with regard to things like Christmas or whatever, there's a large disconnect between the kids and the parents.

As ridiculous as everyone thinks all this crap is, if your not able to be more impressionable to your kids than the outside world, then you might as well get use to being pissed.

Good argument, Brett. If you don't have more influence over your child than the world, then there's a serious problem. However, that's how it is today. Sad, but true. The world, the society, has control over today's youth, not their parents.

The problem again being with the parents, not the world. TEACH your kids what your beliefs are, and HOPE that they find the same worth in the things you taught, but if you teach kids nothing, they'll cling to whatever comes along.

By no means am I pointedly saying any of you are bad parents, but the kids that are the rulers of the house out there fall under the group of parents that......well.......don't parent.

I agree. You combine kids who are unruly and have no respect for authority with parents who were/are the same way and don't parent, and you have a major problem.

I'm just saying it is a huge influence and will change their perspective. They won't have 50% of the fond memories and feelings that we do.

Seems that Lowe's has caved to the pressure and are changing back their signs to read "Christmas Trees". My coworker said she heard it on the news.

I heard the same thing this morning on the way to work. Basically, they are going back to calling them Christmas Trees to "avoid confusion".
Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support
group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.

Last night I'm in Home Depot, down the electrical isle when over their PA system comes some blabbering in spanish, I have no idea what it was because I couldn't understand it. So, out of my mouth pops "what **** country am I in?", loud enough I guess for some to hear and look over as if I had said something wrong.

We are going Christmas Tree shopping tomorrow night. We go with a big group of neighbors, getting dinner first, hitting up a Starbucks for coffee and then off to the Christmas Tree lots. Looking very forward to it. Then, in a couple of weeks the neighborhood progressive dinner party. Last year I saw several of my neighbors in the birthday suits. This year should be quite interesting.

We are going this weekend. We actually do pretty much the same thing you guys do before heading to the tree lot. It's really a good time. I like to grab a starbucks christmas blend coffee on the way.
