lightning storms in 7.1 was very enjoyable. there are still those who doubt the noticable difference between 5.1 and 7.1. i've enjoyed both but, barring space constraints, i'd never go back!

What the hell happened at the end? They just started to die? Tom Cruise blew up that one from the inside, then all the others stated to drop. In the movie they said the japanese figured out how to kill them, why didn't that have the chain effect?

I thought the movie was ok untill the end. It just cuts off, nothing explained.

This movie could have been so much better. The sound quality was killer but the video quality sucked. It thought it looked terrible.

    SPOILER*

    THEY GOT KILLED BY... GERMS!

    The story has a moral...

That sometimes man made things cant get the job done... that sometimes mother nature puts us in our place.

I thought they explained everything pretty well... the voiceover specifically said exactly what killed the aliens - lack of an immune system against our bacteria.

As for the Japanese learning how to kill them, that statement was made during the time when everyone was spouting off random rumors that had no basis in reality, so I'm pretty sure that was what that was.

I think the japanese refrence was implying that the japanese were sending kamikaze's into the beast to destroy them from the inside.

Ok, it was very rough and I almost did not make it back. However, I talked to the Aliens, they are STILL pissed about the germs, that is the only thing that saved me, they were very skeered I would spit on them.

    MAJOR SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Here is what happened:

They are a very smart and advanced race of people (ps, they have determined that wire matters) anyway, after surveying the earth millions of years ago they were able to extrapolate the dividing and separation of the earths Tetonic Plates. Their models were very accurate in determining the most likely points for humans to colonize and build their cities. This was mostly done by determining key natural resource points.

They missed a bit on a very few tripod burials, that is why the one in the picture was in the water just off the Harbour. There one key miss was the Middle East as somehow they did not determine their would be huge reserves of fossil fuels and they figured know one would settle in the sand.

OK, with all their smarts, some dumb **** in their IT section of government forgot to project the micro development of possible infectious cells. They did study the earth at the time of the burial, and found no threatening organism's, however, due to cost containment they only did random sampling from that point on every few hundred years. The last time they checked everything was cool, but that was 1705. Seems the guy who wrote the program was an IT geek who turned audiophile and just screwed up. Yes, there was hell to pay when the few who made it back home told what happened. It caused a major shift in their political structure, with lots of finger pointing, posturing and name calling.

OK, that is it in a nutshell, like I said, do not attempt to contact on their own as RT1 is a trained professional who barely made it back. If you have questions please let me know. But as you can see their is an answer for everything.

Have a nice day. Remember their watching.

Tom lost his gun. I would not have lost my gun till I was dead.
I would have shot the aliens on more than one occasion and none of them would have had the nads to do anything about it.
They would have feared me MORE than they fear Chuck Norris.

They figured some folks would just run, jump in the tripod and take their chances there to get away from her, pretty smart huh! :D

Actually I wanted both those worthless **** stains dead. I mean, hey punk, the world is on the verge of being obliterated by alien invaders, you think you can drop the "I hate daddy" attitude?

As usual, kids ruined what couldve been a fantastic movie. There should be a law about having kids in a movie rated anything higher than G.

    I disagree with you there...

Child actors are like mainstream music.

You only hear about a select few that couldnt act if their life depended on it.

Then there are others that do more serious roles and pull them off like they're grown ups...

i was thinking that about dakota while watching last night. i'm sure every single reviewer since the movie was released has her wishing perhaps the director would have told her to tone it down a bit. i was pissed as hell and yelling at her when i watched hide and seek. but the end of the movie explained why she acted as she did. she is a decent young actress. the screaming still annoyed me in wotw, though.

80 posts later and i'm beginning to wonder just how much we all do LIKE it. maybe many just like to HATE it...dunno.

I loved this movie, concept and everything. My sister got it for me for Christmas and I can't wait to get it. I think it is perfectly plausible that the aliens didn't realize that there were microorganisms that could be potentially harmful. Humans **** up and do stupid **** like that all the time. Who is to say they are smarter then us? Maybe they just had alot more time to evolve and create technology. Plus, its not like they were down here testing water samples every few years. Alot evolves in millions of years. There could have been only safe microorganisms millions of years ago.

Plus guys, they call it science fiction for a reason. It's based on science but its fiction. Don't pic it apart. The action was cool, the sound was really cool, so watch the movie for that. Don't get all bent out of shape because the Aliens made a mistake.

you and steve are right. i think 'I' was just a little disappointed as this movie COULD have been epic and stellar. but instead it's just good and/or okay.

tell you what, this will make you lose respect for me. a co-worker of mine and i both picked apart 'the fast and the furious' like crazy. bottom line, we both enjoyed it so very much but could not own up to that fact. same scenario applies for this movie. agreed? anyone?

I'm gonna buy the DVD. However, if it weren't for the excellent sound, it would go down in history as one of the worst big budget movies of recent times.

I liked the movie, but like the rest, the kids were a bit much, maybe because I have kids that age and if they acted like that, somebody is in deep bandini. The ending, to me wasn't bad, it told me no matter how big and bad **** something can be, the smallest thing in the world can bring you down.
