But this time in my favor!

2 days ago I won a bit for the RTi4's. I paid him threw the checkout as useual. paypal used $19 from my acount and $180 some from my confermed bank acount! The transfer was an istant transfer, But get this... It wasnt removed from my bank!!! I have web banking acsses and I can view all the transactions. Today 2 days later it still wasnt removed from my acount! And in my paypal acount it shows that he recived his payment and everything is COMPLETED!

So, whats your take on this? Did paypal mess up in my favor for once? Or can this come back to byte me in the rear later?

It's all electronic, but even the online banking stuff is usually delayed by holidays, because it has to be confirmed by real poeple and all that jazz. Trust me, it'll go through.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

funny how people can think that, because it's all electronic, it happens instantly...

on a holiday weekend?!!? even if it weren't, depending on the time of the transaction, it may post the next day, meaning you wouldn't see it reflected until saturday, or even monday, _normally_. Trust me, if there's one thing Paypal will NEVER FORGET, it's to take your money at every opportunity

Before pay-pal became a e-bay company, when you purchased something it would come right out of your account, Now ive seen it take 3-4 days to show up in my bank account.. and factor in the weekend, give it a few days.. pay-pal didn't become big by giving money away :D

You'd have to do better than that... They will find you. Besides, if you're purchasing something, you would have to wait for it to be delivered first, then move all your crap to another country, while at the same time changing your name and fingerprinting. Good luck!

It will probably still come out of your account. If it doesn't though, If it were me, I would want to make sure that I paid for what I bought. But that is just me. I always give back money if a clerk gives me too much change back. I always bring it to the attention of the sales person if I feel they forgot to charge me for something. I want any and all discounts I am due but I don't want something for nothing (unless of course it is their intention to GIVE it to me).

IMO if you are going to **** if/when you are shortchanged...You have no right to any windfall when you are on the other end. I'm not trying to be self-righteous here...it's just the way I think things should be.

Now, I almost had the same reaction as you, read-alot. But if pay-pal has the transaction marked as completed, there's no reason to suspect that the seller is not being paid in full. This doesn't seem to me to be a case of someone to cheat the seller, but that the 'machine' used to pay the seller (pay-pal) forgot to charge the buyer. I don't think Josh-s is trying to get out of it, it just appears that pay-pal forgot to charge him (though that's a debated point as it makes sense what with the holiday and weekend they may charge him Monday).

It is a question, though, if it's right to let pay-pal not charge him.

To me it doesn't matter if it is a poor person or a Multi-billion dollar corp. If I owe them...I owe them. I TRY to be honest "ALL" of the time. I bet if it was "there end" that messed up and charged you $360 instead of $180 you would "care one bit".

I'm out ...no point in arguing ethics on an internet forum...

Are you new to this whole "banking" thing? I make charges all the tiem that take up to a week to go through, and I never once am retarded enough to think they "forgot" about me. Pay for gas at the pump some time. They don't actually charge you for like 5 days. It's all "electronic", but it's just the way it is.

If you want to keep fantasizing about htis, I'll bet you twice what you think you "stole" from Paypal that the money eventually gets taken out.

Yea, Paypal they suck, they want people to accept the idea of paying to move money. But dont go ripping them off, even if you can. I concur though they will catch up with your account.

What gets me is it "costs" the same to move 10 or 10,000. But a huge difference in their "fee". They would say they have risk, but with all the verification process and account limits I dont buy it.

Ted, The problem is that the risk is real and any financial institution (which PayPal is) MUST get paid for taking that risk. Yes they may have verification processes but there are as many folks trying to rip their system off as there are credit cards frauds. It takes LOTS of legit transactions to just to recover a single $1,000 fraud loss. I don't use PayPal, not because I don't like them, but as a banker I tend to understand the risks of electronic funds transfers. As a society we are trading off a lot of risk for the sake of convenience.
