    Ok. To be absolutely, totally, brutally, bluntly honest, I don't see how any human being on the face of the earth with any rational thinking abilities can say what you just said.

    The 1969 Camaro comands respect. It demands it. It is the embodiment of every (so I thought) kid's dreams. It is spectacular. And ONLY matched, and only then maybe, by the Shelby Cobra.

    Now, I've seen some awesome looking Mustangs of that era that were to die for, but (again) being honest, (speaking for a cosmetic standpoint), I wouldn't give much for any of those.

    I was there...in 1969...you weren't.
    I wouldn't give much for any of those.
    Be careful...you are showing your lack of knowledge here. There is not a Mustang in that group that will sell for less than $75,000 and that is the Mach 1. That Boss 302 is closer to $100,000 and the Shelby and the 428 coupe are $150,000 cars minimum.

    Indeed. And so, I'd love to sit around and hear you tell some stories from the time. I'm sure I could learn a lot. However, I didn't say what it ruled. I'm sure there were many cars of the time that could hang with it, and I'm sure there were many people of the time that wouldn't have given squat for it. Has a lot to do with brand allegiances.

    Notice I didn't say a thing about what they were worth. I didn't say a thing about how they performed, how they 'ruled' the day, or what they'd go for today. I just said that, from a cosmetic-only standpoint, I wouldn't give much for any of them.     They do for ME! Maybe not for you....but then again...I doubt you've driven one. The Camaro's were fine cars. However, they owe what they are to the Mustang. They were always trying to catch up. The buying public agreed. The number of 69 Mustangs produced/sold was 300,000. Production of 69 and 70 Camaros (remember the new body style was a 70 1/2 because they could not get it produced in time for 70 due to the auto workers strike) was 243,095.

    I really prefer the 70 1/2 Camaro Z28 over the 69 any day. (except for maybe that ZL-1 Copo - I really like the "sleeper" look.)

    I like the look of the 70 1/2 Camaro, too, though I'll admit it's second to the 69. I do prefer the ones with the split bumper, though. Didn't know that about the '1/2'.

    Ok, how do I save a picture at a lower resolution? Is there a website that will do it for me? I don't seem to have a program on my computer that'll do it.

    There is one "bowtie" that really got me going in 69. The 69 ZL-1 Corvette. It is the rarest of rare. Only 2 made and I was fortunate enough to see the yellow one in person a few years ago. There is a Corvette expert in Knoxville that puts on Corvette Expos Nationwide. He had one here in town and this car was there. An awesome machine.

    everytime I see a camaro I see a buffet of corvette leftovers on 4wheels. I don't know why, I've just never liked them. Not even the I-ROCS. :o

    Another interesting car was one a friend of mine had. A 70 SS454 Monte Carlo. It was a BIG car but would fly once it got going...Similar to this one but Maroon.

    Another friend had one of these...Chevelle SS396....375hp...Cowl induction...4 Speed. Pretty cool car. He trashed it. Looked just like this one.

    Reminds me that in a traffic jam on the way home from work today I stopped next to a Grand National. (Man how I'd love to have one!!!! *DROOOOL*) Now, it had some wheels on it that didn't exactly go with it, but it was beautiful and had a great exhaust note and turbo whine. I asked the guy what year it was, and he said it was a '86.

    68', 69', 70' were the height of the muscle car era....and I was right in the middle of it. Lot's of cool car stuff in my past. The rarest car I've ever had the opportunity to drive was was a 69 GTO RAM AIR V. 440 hp. There are those who say this car never existed. It did. There was never one delivered to the public from the factory, but this was a "test mule" that was sold by Pontiac R&D as a used car. It's history...how my friend came to own it...how we found out what it was...and it's ultimate fate is story unto itself...Here is a picture of what it looked like (his had stock wheels instead of mags).

    All I can say is....WOW!! 10.60 at 132 in 1969 on tires of that era!! I would love to know what a ZL-1 could do on a dyno! VERY impressive!! Top speed of almost 200mph! It's a shame the yellow 'Vette doesn't get driven anymore.
