its about friggin time !!!! they need to tone that front end down a notch I liked the older skylines that were a little more subtle. it just made it cooler that the car was a friggin screamer on the inside, but not so much on the outside.Living Room 2 Channel -

If they're smart they'll brand it as an Infiniti here in the states, considering i'm guessing it'll come in just south of $50k

btw a 3.5 ltr. twin turbo is just sick.
the last generation r33 and r34 had a 2.6 I6 that with a stage 4 turbo strapped on to it, put out 1,200 hp.
Yes, you read that right. That almost defies physics. -

Man. This is great!! Only problem is which to get: Skyline or 5th generation Camaro. Though, considering the different target markets, probably I'm the only one faced with that problem.George Grand wrote: »

and that's the only car i've ever liked from GM. 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. Screw the Viper. Hell screw the Mustang Cobra R and GT40 for that matter...
at $65,000 the 06 zo6 is BEYOND a bargain, it's downright silly.
DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT! -
screw all that. I'll take a Viper please

I think Sami has/had one of those...the older one of course

What does a Skyline GT-R do in the 1/4? Or is it one of those tuner cars that you can only race from a "40 roll"?

I am greatly relieved to say that I just read in a car mag last night that the Camaro is very close to be given the green light, will debut at car shows in 2006, and may be made publicly avaible as soon as 2007 (though possibly as late as 2009). It also said it is very likely that it'll be based on the sigma platfrom (that the Cadilac CTS is based on and the next GTO will likely be based on). This article said it should be offered with a V8 making around 400 horses ('cause it's gotta compete with the Mustang), and the base Camaro could possibly have an Ecotech I4. It also said there could be some experimenting with forced induction and such with the new Camaro. Needless to say, I'm really pumped up! (Oh, and the pic, err..sketch.., looked a lot like the '69, so that's good.)
PT - That's just funny. The Skyline's a beast. Especially Sami's. And as far as I know, he still has it. (I know I wouldn't get rid of it if I had it!)
Markymark - The new C6 Z06 'Vette will destroy the Viper.George Grand wrote: »

Oh, the z06 is rated for 500 horsies, the '06 Viper is rated at 506hp and 503lb/ft torque. I think the Viper could out-handle the vette; I don't have any proof of this. It just seems logical because the Viper is an autocrossing beast.

When I get a spare moment...I'll debunk that ludicrous thought....:DGeorge Grand wrote: »

like I said, I'm a Mopar man so of course I'll take the Viper.
Now, I'll take the Skyline over the Viper but that is only because it comes with over twice the power. -
Comes with twice the power? I think not (though I might possibly perhaps maybe even could almost be mistaken). I think you hafta work on it to make it do that much.George Grand wrote: »

I guess I misread something then. My mistake.

2006 Z06 vs. 2006 Viper, Viper has the edge with about 50 more torque. Torque is what wins races.
-
But you have to factor in other things. Shoot, my dad's International box truck makes more torque than that. But that doesn't mean it'll beat the Viper at anything (except at hauling).George Grand wrote: »

Were not talking about trucks, we're talking about two very specific cars. I'd put my money on the Viper, assuming equal drivers. -

Actually the GT-R is much faster (in relation) from a stop as it is AWD, 1/4 miles for stock cars is somewhere around 12.7s, give or take.

That's pretty respectable for a stock car. I hoping to be around that with my mods. -
The Viper is not a car that just anyone can get behind the wheel of and get it to perform to it's full capacity. The Vette, as nice as it is, anyone can drive fast. If the Viper has the right person behind the wheel, it will edge out the Vette.
There is a reason why there are so much varied performance data out there on the Viper, and that's the test driver's skill level. Even the new Viper Coupe has had test numbers for 0-60 times that range from 3.6 to 4.3 seconds. There is only one plausible explanation for that....the driver.
Bliss, you need to start opening your eyes to other makes of vehicles besides GM products. The new Vette is arguably the best Vette to date and it performs with the best out there, but once you take those to the track, the Viper is in it's territory
Torque is extremely important to how well a car will perform, not only in a straight line, but also out of the corners."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,
