Where do they get these movies? They have the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD; my understanding is Lucas has done nothing on these films for DVD.

    Probably the LDs.

Yeah, I noticed that these DVD's have no regional coding and they come with English and Asian language subtitles. The official Starwars.com website had no mention of any DVD's other than Ep.I:TPM.

This is beginning to look like another far-east bootleg piracy operation.

These are VCDs, lesser quality than DVD, usaually in 2 disk format and no dd sound.

Wrong, they have a section for VCDs. The Star Wars Movies come with DD sound.

I actually ordered LOTR from them to see what it was like. Pretty amazing pirating technology they got over there. :D

    Lax,

How did the picture quality, resolution and sound quality of your LOTR DVD compare to U.S. made DVD's?

I'm surprised Emperor Lucas hasn't found out about this and shut these guys down.

I noted with interest that they have quite a few new DVD's that are still in theatrical circulation in the US (like LOTR).

LOTR was a exact burn of the Academy Screener which was release about 2 months before the Academy Awards. For a pirated DVD that costs me $12, it has incredible PQ! It is in anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1) and has little or no EE or digital artifacts. I also ordered the disappointing Black Hawk Down and A Beautiful Minds. One could easily tell that they were ripped from the VHS screeners and burned to DVD.

Of the many DVDs that they have and are still out in theaters, I would guess maybe 1/4 of those are actual DVD quality. Like ICE AGE, I would guess would be decent quality. But not DVDs like Blade 2. But if you want to see movies early, and don't care too much about quality, you should try this web site, it takes about 2 weeks to ship them because they send it standard mail from Malaysia.

My partener has the trilogy on DVD.Yes it's the laser version with dd.The picture suck's bad ,blurry and ultra high color's.The sound is good for the most part but the bass is up like 6db.
Not really worth it if you own a laser dick player(like I do), get it on laser disk.
Or just wait for the release on dVD whenever that happen's!

Bad move guys. This is bad pirated crapola, and if you order anything here you really are taking a risk. If you were smart, you'd probably avoid it.

That said, it's pretty funny how much money Lucas could be making just by putting out the damned trilogy on bare-bones DVD.

    Caveat emptor.

See, if Lucas was smart, he would have released a bare-bones trilogy with the introduction of DVD. Then sometime in the near future he could release the collectors editions with all the extras, remastered in DD EX, etc. Then on top of that he could offer an extra special boxed set. You know there'd be a ton of suckers that would buy the movies twice.

    Like ME!

I wouldn't mind having the original theatrical version of the first Trilogy (you know, where Han fires first on Greedo) in widescreen
AND the new Special Editions on widescreen.

Not too mention the rumored 3rd edition original trilogy Lucas is planning...

My guess is when the DVD's are finally release they will contain both regular and SE versions of the movie. Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition is like this. That SE scene with Greedo was so retarded.

The Star Wars triology is on VCD guys, Video CD, same version as VHS and same quaility as VHS (max 240 h lines), most DVD now-a-day playy these disc, quality is very "suck", if you already in for DVD, don't bother to get VCD...unless you want to go "back to the future"...

PETERNG: You are missing the point, they are not VCDs. They are a DVD with the LD version of Star Wars, meaning not VCD quality. Plus they have digital sound. :)
