But...paying my rent isn't a 'societal problem'. That's something I personally have to deal with.

Anyhoo, I think I'll just drop this. And drool over some pics of that awesome Memphis amp!! :D:D:D:D

What worries me is that his generation is SOOOOOOO PC that the ad bothers him! There used to be a time that you could poke fun without worrying that it somehow offends someone. Hell.....EVERYTHING offends SOMEONE! Hey, I AM old and it doesn't bother me.

To borrow a line from a well known movie (Network) we need to stand up and yell "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this PC **** anymore!"

I am getting so tired of people complaining so much. Oh pity me like so... blah blah blah. People need to get over it... Are people that scared of life being as bad as it really is? So annoying...

It's not that I can't handle life being as bad as it is. It's that it shouldn't be that bad. And as a Christian, it's my responsibility to somehow make an impact.

I'm not whining. I'm lamenting over the state of things.

Oh well; like I said, I'm dropping this....

    Ok...

Lets say someone calls you a name... this name dosnt bother you and dosnt think much of it.

However some stranger you've never met starts arguing with the person that called you whatever it was. That stranger has the potential to start something between you and the guy you didnt have a problem with and just can create a situation that never existed.

Old people were young once, and while they deserve all kinds of wicked respect - like everything else, if they (or anyone else) is laughing at what your arguing about... the point is almost pointless and rarely comes out to any good. Thats where you just start to bowlderize everything in society to the point of where you cant live. It just sucks.

Hmm. As far as I can see, that analogy has practically no (relevant) similarities.

    audiobliss,
i see and understand your point.. we often times don't show much or very little respect for our elders. In other cultures/societies.. the more "mature" people were looked up to and highly respected members of their communities.

Today unfortunatley, we put our more mature members of society out to pasture if you willl and we try and ignore them as best we can. It's sad sometimes.. older folks have the most expendible income of all. they usually have no mortgage payment, no car payment, no brats to put thru school.. etc. But yet the only thing that advertisers try to sell to older folks is Metmucil and those types of products.

I'm old(er) that a lot of the people here, (41) to be exact. I know that the SR6500 isn't aimed towards my generation... everyknow knows us baby boomers HATE music of all kinds. We only lived thru the best age of rock and roll. But yet we don't care about good high quality music.

I'm not offended by Polks marketing slogan for this product. It's not aimed towards my generation.. so i probably won't buy it. But that's not because i'm offended by the slogan. I'm flat out broke. :p

If you can show me how my example is "wrong" - please do...

I have experienced, and seen how one person can persuade another into believing something entirely different than what they started out believing in a certain situation - thus making it ALOT worst than it should have been. Usually it ends up in a bad spot.

There also moments where you can persuade, alter a whole group of people - thus changing an entire situation. Its quite amazing how "sheep" work.

The way it works in the world dosnt seem to be much different. A few people start complaining, they get their way and change everything. Its the whole basis of Political Correctness - pleasing everyone about everything.

This thread is too hilarious.... If you are offended, go somewhere else. I gotta agree with Sid. If you don't like it, ignore it. Unless it is hate speech, you shouldn't complain-go somewhere else...

LOL! Gene Simmons 15 minutes of fame for me was the movie role in which he was left with a grenade in his mouth, pin pulled, by Rutger Hauer. Sorry, I can't remember the movie title -- I'm too old. ;)
