That was a cogent and lucid explanation of 'the law of averages', which I had always figured was a pseudo-concept. In fact, it's sort of the underlying postulate of statistical sampling, I suppose.

In terms of the "probability of any possible event (even an unlikely one) occurring at least once in a series increases with the number of events in the series": Around my house, we refer to the "monkeys and typewriters" effect... as in "given an infinite number of monkeys sitting at an infinite number of keyboards, one of them will type all of Shakespeare's works, flawlessly." Not unlike the pseudo-statistical concept of "being due" (e.g., the Cubs are due to win the World Series)

This is FAR more interesting than Billy Joel (TM), and isn't even a registered trademark...

Of course that is more along the line of "one in a million" chances. They have a few more to go before they "are due".

I love free association! Klang association, I believe it's called clinically... from the German "klingen" (to sound [like])... a sign of schizophrenia (so I have been told).

I wonder what these live Seger albums would sound like to me today. (Plus, is it me or do I recall that neither live LP was ever released in its complete form on CD; they were always missing some songs cut for time or something? Sort of like Kansas's amazing live album, "Two For The Show," which has never been on CD in its complete form. Otherwise, I'd own it.)

    Here ya go! ;)

Kansas - Two for the Show

    Bob Seger - Live Bullet

Bob Seger - Nine Tonight - This one says the final track was edited for CD.

Just a helpful tip for those who may not already know. If you go to www.allmusic.com and look at the details for any album, at the bottom of the page it shows all the formats, and dates the album was released.

    Enjoy

An amazon consumer reviewer, in a post dated Nov 04, says, "An inside source told me upgraded/expanded versions of [the Kansas live LP 'Two For The Show' is] in the works... probably be released next year..."

Now that would be super cool. No matter what you may think of the band Kansas, this is one of the best live LPs ever made, and the band is nothing at all like you think it is (if your first thought is, "'Dust In The Wind' sucks, man!").

So, it's almost a year later... where's my updated/expanded Kansas LP, yo?

Because I'm a loser, I just went to the Kansas band website. There, you will see the two cleaning women from the cover of the live LP down in the corner. If you run your mouse over them, they say:

"The rerelease of the remastered TWO FOR THE SHOW has been delayed by Sony until 2006."

Damn those little Sony people! Damn them!

Has anyone here seen Movin' Out? The broadway play based on Billy's music. I saw it with some friends a few months back. It wasn't at all what I expected, but I was still quite impressed.

Nope, sure havne't. Didn't even know it existed. Sounds interesting, though. Did they have a 1970 Mustang taking off at the end? :D
