$3.12 for the cheap stuff now. Went up from $2.57 to $2.89 to $3.06 to $3.12 in the matter of 4 days. Sigh... wish I would've known about the jump then instead of the $3.06 last night.

Actually, they don't buy it. It is part of the trade agreement for securing the country.

At least that is my understanding.

Increased from $3.29 this morning to $3.45 around noon here in Knoxville. On the evening of 8-29 (the Monday Katrina hit) I paid $2.43.

Gouging is alive and well in East Tennessee.

Whoops....excuse me clifselina...make that... Market pricing mechanisms are alive and well in East Tennessee.

The Sharks won't run on regular, so I just paid $3.31 at Hess for premium, which is better than the $5 + I'm convinced all of us will see before the end.

Thanks for leaving me alone Shack. You're okay.

i am a pipefitter/mechanical foreman and i know quite a bit about the major oil companys. i have gained this knowledge from working in a specialized field. i build petroleum loading terminals and petroleum supply pipelines. i work with piping from 48" to 2" and work for every major oil company in the country.i also do work for Colonial pipeline which is the largest in the U.S. and runs from Texas to NewYork.even though the major oil companys are posting record profits they are reluctant to spend money on improving thier systems or even maintaining existing systems or pipelines. this was not always the case. the reason for this reluctance is simple. the EPA has become lax in thier standards and enforcement. this does not sit well with me at all. i was raised on the Chesapeake Bay which is the largest estuary in the world. there are seven major oil terminals all located on the waterfront within 15 min from my home which is situated on a small creek and if a pipeline fails the petroleum would end up on my shoreline. i am not a tree hugger by any stretch of the imagination. oh and by the way all of the major pipelines are full as are the storage tanks in my area but the price of regular gasoline has jumped 70 cents in one and one half days. how can someone put a happy face on this obvious con game?

A great many of our refueling tracks take us out over both Delaware and Chesapeake Bays. During the last couple oil "shortages" tankers were forming large circles, like covered wagons waiting for the indians, waiting to get into the bays to offload. None seemed to be riding high in the water, and there were plenty of those circles.

The Ga. Govenor just removed the state tax on gasoline for the month of Sept. This will save the residents $75M for the month. Way to go!

Indiana did that a few years ago when gas reached the $2+ mark. I don't think they'll be doing that again here since the state has a multi-billion $$ deficit. But I'm happy to see you guys get a break.

    I believe ya bro.

Ive heard from several people on various news programs that we've got plenty of oil. All the tanks, tankers and pipelines are as full as a tick. The only problem is the distribution lines have a kink in them and until it gets worked out the price will stay higher. But you never know, the evil Bush may decide to keep the prices higher til he has enough money to buy another house in the Hamptons.
