Subwoofer placement issue?

I have moved to a new home and it seems like the only place for my subwoofer is about 3 feet in front of my right tower facing sideways (toward the receiver and left tower). I was told by someone that subwoofer placement is not an issue in most cases. Do you think the close proximity to the tower or the fact that it is pointed across my listening area will present a problem?

nope, especially if that's the only place for it :p... no, the facing isn't a big deal, and if you have no other choice of location, that's that, isn't it...

if you have a couple places to choose from, this is an idea that seems valid - put the sub where you would sit to listen, then crawl around to your various possible placement locations and have a listen... pick the one that sounds the best...

I would have to disagree.Placement of the sub is probably the most vital detail in getting strong and great sounding bass.

I'm not an expert by any means but for me and everywhere I read placement can be a big issue. In my living room after trying 4 different locations finally it is in a good place and each place sounded differently.

......good luck and let us know how it works out. :)

placement is an important but not as important as daily living, if the best sound is in the middle of a high trafic area, well you know what I'm trying to say.
