I'm tired of debating also, but am always willing to share my experiences and POV as long as it's constructive.

Same here. I kinda have a feeling that this MIGHT be one of the reason for some of the defections. I'm not in the inner circle, but it seems that that could be one of the issues that helped push some members away from here. Just a guess, though. This issue seems to be getting even more prevalent these last few months. I hope it's not a trend , but just a fluke, but only time will tell."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

The issue of newbie ignorance with an attitude has been around since the inception of the internet forum format. Here on CP, the revolving questions/statements do take a toll on the regulars since there is a never ending supply of people that "don't know they don't know".
I try to take it in stride and answer the new poster with a straight answer the first reply and see where it goes from there. If an attitude rises in the response, then the gloves come off, since they really weren't looking for opinions only a fight.
Some things never change:
Cables do/don't matter.
Tube watts vs SS watts.
Receiver use with LSi, Rti12/Rti150
Vinyl vs. CD.
Optical vs. Coaxial
Dolby Digital vs DTS
The differences in many changes we make in our systems may sound huge to us since we know our rigs intimately, but to the casual listener, very few of the tweaks can be recognized as a change, and even fewer of them could tell if it was better or worse.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

All I can say is don't knock it untill you've tried it. In regards to the $$$ powercables, yah...one might consider buying an Elrod or Electraglide powercable that retails for well over $1k crazy, but when you consider most of the owners of these cables use amps that cost well over 15x's then you might put this all into perspective. Would I consider buying an Elrod PC for $1k? No, not because I'm convinced it wouldn't work, but I'm pretty sure my system doesn't have the resolution it would require to hear the total impact that cable is said to induce. I've always had a problem with people discrediting things they themselves have never tried. This usually boils down to wealth, and I'm not a very wealthy person. But, I don't turn my back on what more experienced audiophiles have heard. Remember folks, your typical audiophile that has the kinda dough to spend, isn't a stupid person. They're usually highly regarded in there respective field and successfull. These aren't stupid people.

I would not place blame on newbies for our members who have chosen to take a break for however long from Club Polk. That was their personal decision.
And while I am at it, there is no need to shut the cable program down. Since I was not involved in it I have not volunteered and I believe the new leader should come from the group who participated. I will however pledge 100.00 dollars towards the purchase of any cables we need to replace.

You could buy a single cable, then start a swap thread for it. That might be easier to manage.

I wasn't, if you notice I was just saying that it MIGHT be ONE of many unknown reasons is all. And not newbies in general, but newbies with the attitudes, which in my short time here HAS become more prevalent. Where before it seemed like maybe one of those types every couple of weeks, it nows seems like 1 or 2 a week start a thread and then it turns into a cluster f%ck within 10 posts.
But like I said, it was just a guess . I know I'm not in the inner circle so I'll likely never know why and quite frankly, I really could care less anymore. It's pretty obvious it was their personal decision, as none of them were banned. Hell for all I know, I could be one of the reasons they decided to leave."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

when people get the group/click mentality it makes it hard for newbies to come aboard.. I joined a boating forum and although got answers it took forever and was far and few between, it was a ton of people talking to each other like it was a bar like we do and gives the feel that anyone new just mess's up the flow.. Noel,
You have become a vital active member in CP in short order, others should follow your example along with H9 to mention just one other, oh yea, and WILLIAM and hell there are a bunch of good new members now that I think about it.
Dennis has the right idea, come in our club ask for help and you will get it, come in and give attitude, so be it, but we can be a very tough bunch. Any organzation should not fear or despise those who question. Our truths and values if they in fact are worthwhile will stand up to any challenge.
We just had one of the greatest audio events in club history, Matt Polk came and hung out with us, so very cool, and how about Ken Swauger, and Al Ballard, Hedy, jesus, we are a very strong club. BDT is hosting 06, I will host 07 if Polk does not host at headquarters in MD.
This thread is about cable, power cables to be exact, so sorry for the little derail. PT is correct you dont need 15-20 cables to swap. The old program did not start out with that many, people donated, some were purchased, but ONE guy cannot do everything for ever. This board and club can make you become a slave to it. We all have lives outside this passion.

Yes, this is about cables. I will donate a cable or two to the cause, we just need someone to take the helm, like a Senior Member...hint hint"SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,
