Since we are talking about mtx...
Should i get MTX 7500 12 inch (I think its the same as MXS1204) or the RF Punch 3 12 inch sub.
Thing is, my friends dad works at best buy and he can get me these subs at what the store pays for em. These are the best they got there (No polk). The P3 is a year old design though and the MTX beats it in xmax (12mm to like 16.5mm). Im sure MTX sounds better but they dont have it on display. Im gunna port the dual subs at around 40hz so which sub would be louder just cause xmax in ported boxes dont affect as much as sealed. They got the same price and ill be powering em with about 900rms for both. Your opinions?, thanks.

Oh yea, the 22inch sledgehammer in sounddomain is overkill but ill never own one.

When in doubt, always choose MTX. If for no other reason than they are the toughest subs on the market. I was putting nearly 400 watts to my littel 150 watt 8 for over a year and it never had a problem.

Other than that, there wont be that much difference performance wise between the two.

Ok last month car audio and electronics done a test report on the mtx components. Far as the music selection scoring goes out of 50 possible points the mtx thunder axe components recieved a score of 38. The overall sound quality score was out of 100 points possible. This set recieved a score of 74. Not to shabby if you ask me. Heres what they had to say about this component set in there conclusion. Oftentimes, it is easier to write about the bad points in a product rather than the good, especially if the product is negligibly flawed, as was the case with mtx's thunder axe. Going in with a certain expection based on a company's reputation can compound the problem. Admittedly, I was expecting something else from the company I've always considered loud and proud rather than one who clearly takes sound quality to heart. Percieved notions aside, I walked away from this 3 way with a good perception of the thunder axe product. The build quality is exceptional and the sound while having minor flaws was commendable and highly recommendable. If you are in the market for a 3 way set up put this one on your short list.

Yeah, CA&E doenst like to trash products which is good but they still convey the points that each product comes up short on. I took this review as not too flattering. They didnt seem to dig them too much for SQ, which is about right for MTX. They excell at making powerhouse, nearly indestructible gear which is great for amps and subs but you need a little more finesse with speakers.
