mtx high end components

I don't know if anyone has been paying close attention to mtx lately. mtx has been know for great amps and subwoofers. but they are adding to there recipe they have a new component system out called the mtx thunder axe high end component set. they have a head to head comparsion to the mb quart system and the focal system, and they say this component set will leave mb quart and focal in the dust. they good as said it's like comparing the mtx 9500 sub up against all the rest. check it out for yourself at mtx.com under speakers. they have a new line up. mtx looks ready to take on the car audio world in all aspects.

    just goes to show how long i've been out of the car audio loop. When I was into it- 'MTX' and 'high end' was an oxymoron.

    MTX amps and subs have always been amoung the best on the market. Their speakers? Eh.

    Maybe they can come up with something that can hang with the Focals but I doubt theyd ever touch the Almighty Q's!

    Any of them. Im not that big on Focals. Yeah theyre great and all but they dont really spark my interest.

    I went to listen to them at Tweeter a while ago and listened to the K2 and Utpoia's and my reaction was "thats it"?

    Dont get me wrong, they sounded very good but I wasnt nearly as impressed with them as I am with the Q's and even the Boston Pros. Hell I thought the MMC's sounded as good as the K2's! Now of course this was all on a soundboard so take it how you want.

    mtx done the head to head comparsion to the mb quart premium series and the focal poly-k series. heres what they said about the test. WE LOOKED AT SPECS, EXAMINED CONSTRUCTION, AND LISTENED TO IN-CAR AND IN-ROOM SOUND QUALITY. AND WE SMOKED THE COMPETITION, AGAIN.

    we no longer have anything in common. I'm a HUGE fan of Focal and to hear you say that MB K-mart Q series sound better? Man that disappoints me. Sure I know everyone has their own opinions, but dear god. The Q's are probably the only MB's I can stand but I'd still not take them if they were free, unless I could put them on ebay...

    the only thing i was trying to bring to everyone attention is mtx has always focused on there amps and subs. they knew there components were sucks. so they have been really upgrading there speaker line. there speaker line has had a complete make over from the full range stuff to the components. i have not heard them yet and yeah mtx has been suck in the speaker department, but they knew it was time to step it up. i think they have something here with this new line up.

    I stand by my statement. I think the Q's are the best speakers on the market right now. I thought the Focals were also quite excellent but I liked the more "natural" tone coming from the Q's. I felt the Focals had more of an open feel to them which didnt make them suck by any means, I just prefer the Q's over anything Ive ever heard.

    Also, AS I STATED, I was listening to them on a soundboard so Im sure I wasnt running them to their full potential.

    This "I hate Brand X" bandwagon is amusing. I guess MB Quart and JL Audio have been on top for way too long, being standard setters for the industry for nearly 15 years. 10 years from now these forums will run rampant with the "I hate Focal and Adire" bandwagoneers.

    lol I've just never liked the tweeters on MBQ, even the Q's. Yet to contradict that, i love the titanium tweeters on Focal's. I don't know what it is, but 99% of the time, I hate titanium tweeters. Something about Focal just gets me all tight-panted. MMMMM. But I still prefer a good silk dome. Drooooooool.

    Yeah? Well 15 years ago you wouldve said the same thing about JL and MBQ. They were the king of the hill back then with speakers and subs that were unmatched. Kinda like Focal is now and frankly the way JL and MBQ STILL are today.

    In 1990, if you told me youd have such a rabid bunch of people hating MBQ in the future I would never have believed it, yet every forum has its little niche.

    im with toxis all the way. i cant stand quarts tweeters. the midranges are egh. i mean they are really great but i prefer focals over them.

    i had a chance to hear focals new berilyium(Sp?) set. holy ****...nothing short of amazing. the tweeters, just the tweeters are $800...and thats at cost...

    i dunno, mb quart has never really done it for me. I hate JL in a totally different way. some people like the way quarts sound, i dont. they still could very well be worth the price tag to someone...jl on the other hand is just plain overpriced...

    just got my new M3 (new to me) and it has focals in the back.

    I was wondering if they were any good...they sound goodso far but they are only running off th HU so far..

    I have to get new amps now...

    What else are they going to say at the web page?

    Not likely, while they might have truth in it, it's always best to take those statements with a grain of salt if not the whole shaker.

    Look i don't think mtx would lie about there products. i mean if there not any good it's not like there going to get by with it people will know. mtx said when the mtx 9500 sub come out that it would smoke the competition, and damn it jl audio's w7 and kicker's L7 ain't got **** on it. so yeah i believe there high end components can hang with mb quart and focal. wait and see for yourself there shipping now. go check them out for yourself.

    Speakers will always be a personal preference, for them to say they "smoked" the competition is stupid. Also im sure there is a reason why Wilson Audio uses focal drivers in their $70,000 speakers.

    In MTX's case it's not "smoked" in the proverbial sense but the literal sense.

    MTX makes a habit of buying competitors products and testing them head to head with MTX products that are to compete. I have yet to see an MTX component fail before a competitor's product and the few times they did manage to destroy an MTX product, it happened long after the competitor's product failed.

    So when they say "Smoked", they mean it quite literally. MTX may not be the highest is suond quality and such that an audophile looks for but one thing they will do is play louder and longer than damn near anything out there. They got away from that in recent years but judging by what they are put out on the market now, they figured out who they are and what they do best and got back on thier game. I think MTX will be sitting atop the IASCA and dB Drags standings once again and quite soon too.
