If you are within driving distance of this event, YOU NEED TO BE HERE. There is no excuse other than you have died in a tragic Bose speaker accident....and if that's case....

Polk Audio HQ and the hardcore ppl that run that place, are going ALL OUT to accomodate us this year.

You want to feel like an executive? You should come to Polkfest 2005, Sept. 16-17th.

There is alot of really cool stuff that is going to be talked about, demo'd and shown to you, that regular sheep in this world just dream about knowing firsthand. In addition, this is a scheduled opportunity to make yourself known as a Polkie, meet some excellent people from Polk Audio HQ AND the Polk Forum....and rock out to some great gear the whole weekend.

The Saturday event, the 17th, is about forum connection and demo programs. I'm going to have multiple demo rooms, FOOD and lots of little things for you to eyeball.

Do you want to meet Russman, Hoosier, F1Nut and a host of others?....would you like to punch them in the junk? The outcome will depend on how commited you are to the Polk spaceship that we have trailing behind the next earthbound comet.

There are some Polk Audio, heavyweight minions that will be assimilating non-Polk individuals during the Saturday event. Just FYI, it doesn't hurt at all. If you touch these individuals, you will be prosecuted. I'm not going to obligate anyone from Polk in particular, but I'll say that Paul DiComo(PolkPaul)...wait, I'm getting a shock from my implant, nevermind, will be present, even though he and others, have to venture to another market to sell some Polk love. NOPI lives!

I met this past week, some really cool Polk family members, and if you folks read this thread, please chime in with your thoughts and comments about Polkfest. A couple of these guys are from previous Polkfests' and as apologetic as they were, the pain has never worn off.

What company do you know that has corporate individuals take part in major functions for a user forum? Polk does....let me know another and I'll certainly add it to the list. Do you realize the impact this active, grassroots, approach to community involvement has on us as a collective? Isn't it obvious? It's a RABID forum following, a RABID forum community and a RABID family enviroment to alot of us. Klipsch forum? DefTech forum? Bose forum? LMAO I'm sure you get the idea. If you have some data regarding facts contrary to the aformentioned statements, please submit them publically, otherwise take it in the **** and move along.

I personally have nothing against the K and DT as a speaker manufacturer but their respective forum participation is not at our level.

I love this place, it's not my only haunt, but it's my most active. You may not like me, you may want to have my donkey baby, but at least we can talk to one another....agree or disagree, we still move forward. We still learn and we always educate the new people. It's multi-faceted, not caveman.

I mean FAMILY when it comes to Polk Audio as the crew was top notch. These folks have WAY more to do than come to a meeting with a Polk forum junkie, but they did. That alone should check yourself as to what level this company operates on....I can't even expound upon that fact because it's so hardcore.

To our un-named Polk Patriots....The gang wants to meet you as much as Matt Polk. I stated this in the meeting, and it still rings true. Matt isn't the only person that brings these things together, it's the folks that interact with the "crazy" ppl. Al, John, Ken, Kenx2, Micah, Paul, Stu and the other crewmembers that went out of their way to make the '02 tour a reality, TX Polkfest 1 & 2, SC Polkfest 1....are as important to our forum as the forum originator. You are the folks that motivate us.

I want this thread to include everyone at the actual Polk HQ, those that read this area, as my doors are open to you. Just be aware, I have a fire extinguisher and a dog, that doesn't bite, but she will lick an ear off in 39 seconds.

If you want to comment or rag on me please reply to dorokusai@comcast

Get involved, get real, get on the bus.

Mark, It was very cool meeting you! After following this thread, I was surprised to see how really normal you look! Just kidding--your enthusiasm is contagious and I'm actually getting pretty excited about this!

Anyway Hilton finally finished the link for me and here it is. It will allow those who are interested to book a room at a local Hilton which is within about 3.5 miles from our building at the Polk corporate rate. Our sales guys usually stay here when they are in town. In addition to being close to Polk, it's right at the Baltimore beltway and offers easy access to downtown or other desired highways. I'm sure Mark can post easy directions to his place from there.

    http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/groups/private_groups/pikhihf_pok/index.jhtml

Give it a look and let me know if you have any questions or problems with the site. It's a new feature Hilton has just started using.

OK, those are GREAT deals on rooms at the Hilton. I will tell you right now, the only people who get better deals are Government employees/contractors and Hilton employees. $92 a night for a room at the Hilton is a nice deal and the rooms are usually a few steps above a motel which usually runs 45-65 bucks a night. That extra 30-40 dollars is very worth it. Especially with the proximity of the hotel to the HQ offices. You don't even need to drive yourself, the front desk can and will call you a cab if you ask. Hilton also has Concierges(sp?) on premsis so they can find you all kinds of tickets, reservations and transportation anywhere. I do believe that the Hiltons in Baltimore Metro area also have airport shuttles for guests. That is alot of service for $92 a night. If I needed a room to stay in, I'd be staying there at that rate in a heartbeat!

Thanks for the link Hedy, very cool!

You have to be careful though as you never know when Mark is going to go au naturel.

    Gee Stas,

You know, some of us morons MAY have stayed in a hotel before that didn't rent by the hour and heard of Hilton.

I'll bet that some of us can even operate a search engine to check rates and so forth.

    Thanks for the plug though

There's a great little old time Jewish deli called Ed Mart, just down the road from the Hilton in case anybody gets a craving for one of the best hot brisket sandwiches that money can buy. Just ask BDT.

Damn, I just made myself hungry.

Aint THAT the effing truth. I hate about 50% of the DT fans I've met. Some of the most unsupportive bastages alive if you ask me. I guess I shouldnt be saying this considering I'm an admin at a DT board - but who cares right?

The big honchos at Polk & the fans (yall rock!) get my vote.

    I wish I could go!!!! :(

I'd really like to see how people without a government contract number obtain the rates that I and most likely YOU pay when travelling for a project for the government. The hotels consider it private/proprietary info and unless I furnish a contract number, I have no access to the U.S. Government rates.

BTW F1nut---you are right--the brisket at the Ed Mart is amazing, but it should be for $18.00 a lb! The stuff melts in your mouth.

As for the Hilton---they do not offer a shuttle service from the airport. I'm not sure why, but the do have a shuttle van that is available on a first come first serve basis that will go withing a 5 mile radius. That's good because Polk is less than 5 miles away. Also the Metro Station at Old Court Rd. is close by in case any wives want to journy into the city for sightseeing. They can call when they return and get the van to take them back to the hotel.

Do you folks need any "Baltimore" sites posted for general info???

I just wish Polk would hold a number of these across the country. Just put it into one semi's and pick 10 places across the country. If A Busch can send Clydesdales on tour, so could Polk.
Afterall, most Polk owners I doubt have the extra funding to go to Baltimore.

Polk Audio is very active in many events across the nation to include NOPI, CEDIA and CES. It might not be a Polk HQ tour, but Polkies can make the effort to meet some of the headliners that work at Polk, at those venues.

Polkfest has more than a handful of people flying in to attend this HQ Tour, and even more driving a decent distance.

It's all about commitment. We can't have everything handed to us on a silver platter....or parked in the driveway by a team of horses.

There have been 2 Texas gatherings, 1 in Austin, 1 in McKinney - 1 in Charleston, South Carolina - and several other 'mini-meets'. You just haven't been here long enough to know, thats all.

Check out the system showcase, and scroll to the 'Gathering' showcases.

If I were to book a flight , would I book to Baltimore ?

Seeing as I have 18 pair (or more,as I have lost current count) of polk speakers, 3 complete surround systems, a car, a truck , and a boat ...all with Polk Speakers, I am looking into making the PolkFest..!! :D

I would also be taking advantage of the Polk Management teams efforts in securing a place at the local Hilton.

Not 100% sure yet , but I`m looking into it....doing my best as it were

Maybe some day.. we can have a West coast Polkfest :D

beardog. you would want to fly into BWI (Baltimore-Washington) airport. from the west coast.. Southwest airlines and Alaska airlines always run cheap specials. Sign up to receive their web only special emails and find a good cheap flight.

We might even be on the same flight together. ;)

BWI Bear, period. If you don't show up for this, you're not as hardcore as I thought. This event will be something that you will never forget....once in a lifetime stuff.

This doesn't happen often, suck it up, lose the days, and get out here. I assure you will have a great time.

DC/Baltimore in September, is perfect for a family vacation as well, rates are lower, lines are smaller.

Just based on the amount of TV commercials, I have a feeling AB takes in a little more money than Polk, and therefore has more money to spend on things like traveling tours :)
