I have assumed to this point that all interested parties are willing/able to make copies. That's the way I envisioned this working. I would send out the "seed" and then copies would be made and then the "seed" would be sent to the next person. If you aren't able to make copies let me know, I'll have to work that part out.

What would be ideal for convenience is if I could burn them to a DVD-R then people could extract them to their hard-drive and make their own cdr copies. Not sure if all have the ability to do this. This would stream-line the process. Is this possible for all of you? If not....we will just go the cdr route for the "seed"

    Thanks

As long as they aren't copies of regular production cd's I'd say it's ok and I wouldn't mind getting in on this. Just might want to keep the names and addresses in the PM's...

I'm currently working on trying to decide the best way to do this. I'll post the results soon. I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible. I'll get back with more details soon.

Would anyone be opposed to making an extra copy to pass on to the next person? This means you'd make your own copy to keep, plus an extra copy. This means each person down the line can provide the seed plus another copy. Gets this out to twice as many people which would cut the time in half. This will speed things up.

    H9

P.S. Part of the delay is me having to go thru my stuff again to select the best stuff, which is great, it just takes some time.

Just send out the first one and the rest will take care of itself. And before you know it, people from other forums you don't even know will be asking you for copies. Then you will get paranoid and delete all of your above posts and go into hiding. :D

I’m still working on this. I had jury duty this week and I’ll be busy getting ready for a special dinner on Father’s day for my dad. Plus, since I was gone at work, the work is still here so I’ll be staying late. I will get this done soon and get them out!

Just caught on to this one. Dont know how i missed ZEP (Got the ZOSO tat on my back) I frequent at another forum where it is legal to trade live (taped) recordings. Its called BnP which means blanks and postage. Someone offers a show with XX amount of people who can get Dibs then they send blanks and postage with return bubbler. It gets burned and popped in the mail back to you. They also start "Vines" which in this case it would work. Heiny i would start another thread (or you can go back through and pick out the interested parties in order) but basically it goes like this. Heiny would seed the show then you sign up

    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    6
    etc...
Heiny sends out the show to the first person who then copies the orig (burn or rip on HD) and sends out the Orig copy that way there is no sound quality issues down the line. Person one then sends the mailer to person 2 and the Vine continues. etc... As far as Vine etiquite the it works eaiser if the person PM's there addy to the person behind them. So 1 would give addy to the Seeder then 2 Pm to one, 3 Pm to 2 and so on. Make sense?

BTW would that show be the "White Summer" Bootleg? RECORDED LIVE ON THE BBC AT THE PLAYHOUSE THEATER LONDON, ENGLAND
    6/27/69

Not sure what you mean spasticpitbull. You say "would that show be...." What remark of mine in an earlier post is this in regards to? This 6/27/69 show is the one released on the official release "BBC Sessions". The official "BBC" release is incomplete as far the_whole_ BBC recordings are concerned. Not by much but incomplete nonetheless.

And yes I do have this recording. The best recording of this show outside of the official release is a Japanese version called "BBC Transcription Service" Same set list but it includes commentary from the MC and during a break there is a sketch comedy routine called "Liverpool Sound Sketch" which is included. Not too funny, but part of the original BBC Radio broadcast, FWIW

I apologize up front if I get a bit over enthusiastic about Led Zeppelin. They have been by far my favorite group since the late 70’s. These recordings only solidify the greatness of these four musicians. As a live band LZ were unsurpassed in spontaneity and improvisation. They were not afraid to take risks on stage, musically. Sometimes this was amazingly successful, other times it didn’t work out so well. What’s evident in the music is the passion. The studio releases were about perfection and structure. The live shows were about passion and experimentation. In fact in the early days when LZ was an opening band many groups refused to follow them, they were that good even though they had only been together a very short time.

Some of my favorite shows are from 1969, when the band was fresh, young and hungry to make their mark on the music scene. As most fans know LZ was a band that was constantly in transition, never trying to stay in one place musically. That’s what makes them so unique. 1969 is just the starting point for an amazing journey. Admittedly, some of the 1969 recordings in general are lesser quality than subsequent years. However, IMO they are some of the most exciting, raw, over the top performances of any group.

I’m not sure how much experience any of you have had w/ these types of recordings. SQ on some is excellent, some are very good and a few are marginal. The marginal ones are included because the performance of the band far surpasses the marginal SQ. These will either be your cup of tea or, you may say WTF, this sounds like crap. Either way, remember the spirit in which these were offered. If it turns out they aren’t to your liking just package them up and send them on to the next person. The idea is to share the music. I want feedback, but please try not to be too negative. It’s only costing you some postage a few $0.39 blank discs to try something different.

    H9,

Have you read "Hammer of the Gods", yet? If you haven't, I say it's mandatory for any "real" Zeppelin fan and you must or be banned from the "CLUB";) :D.

For any of you that haven't had the chance to read HOTG, I highly recommend doing so while listening to the studio recordings. It was very informative in that you know what was happening at the time and explains the who, what, when, where and whys. I listened to each cd, while I was on the particular section/chapter that corresponded. By doing so, I read the entire book in one sitting. I did the same on "Noone Here Gets Out Alive" and loved it also. For those who don't know the latter book is about Jim Morrison and the Doors.

Yes, I have read it. It's a bit, shall we say, sensationalistic and self serving (for Richard Cole). It was basically written by Richard Cole their road manager. His recollection of events is what legends are made of; literally. He was so whacked out on smack most of the time, that he tends to spin tall tails. I'm sure many events in the book took place but I think, as many others do, they have been extremely sensationalized. The members of the band won't even discuss the book anymore. They say it's pure trash. No doubt LZ were a wild crew before it was cool to be wild. And many crude, over the top events took place, but not everything is as it was in the book. It just goes to show, don't believe everything you read. However, beyond the legendary stories it is pretty informative. There are better ones out there also.

There are plenty of other great books on LZ that explain why they are the greatest band of all time, of course, IMO.

I didn't believe the "legends", knew about them well before reading the book. It helps explain about the music, the problems in their personal lifes(Plants wreck, son's death, etc). The red snapper event and crap like that wasn't what I was talking about.

Things like Bonham setting up double bass drums in the studio and when he would leave the room, they would take it out. He didn't need it, he could roll a bass drum with one foot. Little things like that, they bring you closer to the band, you could just see Bonham going balistic when he returned to the room, until Robert stroked his ego a little and reminded him that he's the best and didn't need gimmicks, just his uncanny timing and tree trunk sticks, etc, etc.

    As far as historical accuracy????

Agree, absolutely. In that context it's a good book. I admit it's been 8-10 years since I read it.

Unfortunately, some of them are out of print. I’m at work and don’t have access to the titles. I’ll post some titles tonight. Who knows, I’m sure there are some used copies floating around somewhere on the Internet.

FYI, I’m almost ready to start shipping the first discs for the karma project. Details to follow in a couple days or so.

I suggest that if you own all the studio albums, that you listen to them while you're in the corresponding chapters. That's the way I read it the first time and I read it in one sitting. It took about as long as it takes to listen to them all. I really enjoyed the book, but as a couple have pointed out, take a lot of the "legend" **** with a grain of salt.

    Enjoy,

BTW, there will be a book report due by July 5th.:D
