It, as all of my Dire Straits CD's do, already sounds great. Their production has always been outstanding. I'm trying to imagine BIA sounding better then it already does and it's difficult.

    Two Channel Setup:

    Speakers: Wharfedale Opus 2-3
    Integrated Amp: Krell S-300i
    DAC: Arcam irDac
    Source: iMac
    Remote Control: iPad Mini

    3.2 Home Theater Setup:

    Fronts: Klipsch RP-160M
    Center: Klipsch RP-160M
    Subwoofer: SVS PB12NSD (X 2)
    AVR: Yamaha Aventage RX-A2030
    Blu Ray: Sony BDP-S790
    TV Source: DirecTV Genie

Link to Amazon UK for pre-order of "Brothers In Arms" SACD....

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009A21R6/026-9484269-2055611?%5Fencoding=UTF8

Comes to US$25.00 w/ shipping. It's still cheaper than the XRCD and you get full surround sound.

I'd prefer that they released "Making Movies," in SACD format, but I'll pick this one up also.

I can't believe that I called them "Dire Straights" in my earlier post (edited). Booze is a powerful thing.

Dire Straits' "Brothers In Arms" SACD delayed until May 23rd. DVD-A coming later in the year for the US, with possible DualDisc version....

Just picked up "On Every Street." My early impressions are that this is a better album than BIA. If you really like Dire Straits and don't have this one, I'd certainly recommend it.

Wow, its like they read my mind. I was looking for high res versions of Dire Straits a couple weeks ago going "geez, the albums sound amazing already, why wouldn't they put it into high res format?"

My prayers have been answered... especially since I can't seem to find my Brothers in Arms CD.

    IMPORTANT

If you pre-ordered this SACD, cancel your order and re-order it again. The price just dropped!!! It's now 8.50 pounds for the limited edition and 7.65 pounds for the regular.

Are you looking at Amazon UK? I am seeing 9.99 pounds for the limited edition and 8.99 pounds for the regular version. And it looks like I can't change or cancel the order as Amazon UK is prepping for shipment.

    Danny,

Yes, Amazon UK. My original pricing was the same as what you've posted, but I noticed that the price posted on their site dropped to 9.99 GBP and 8.99 GBP, so I canceled my order on the 20th and re-ordered. When I did that the price dropped even more. Oh well, at least your order has shipped, mine hasn't yet.

    Ok, will do.

I already have the original redbook DDD copy, the JVC XRCD copy, the LP (no TT anymore because I hate the sound of vinyl) and the cassette (no more tape player either because they really suck), so I will compare the 2 CD versions with the SACD.

woo hoo, I received mine today! UK to California in less than 6 days, and yet Deep Discount DVD/CD orders shipped from Itasca, IL, took more than 4 weeks? WTF? (sorry, I am still PO'ed with that damn company).

I'll do a quick mini-review once I get a chance to compare mine with RBCD version.

Danny, yours should be in your mailbox anytime now...

I need to update my posts here :D

I received my "Brothers In Arms" SACD on Tuesday and I have only listened to it a couple of times.....once on the computer and once using headphones with my SACD player. The improvements are obvious even over my cheapo 8 year old computer speakers; the CD layer is HDCD encoded (verified by playback using Windows Media Player). Using my Grado SR60 headphones, it sounded extremely good.....the bass is tight and the separation is amazing. Everything is just sooooo real. There was just no comparison between the SACD and the CD. The CD layer of the SACD is much better than the regular CD. I've read that the surround mix is of reference quality....I am now thinking of upgrading my stereo.

Hey, on the back it says that "The Best of Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler" is coming this November....another SACD??
