Ok, so it's ME ME ME (think Donkey in Shrek 2).

Given it some thought. Actually, a LOT of thought.

Bottom line? Polk has a posted set of rules, for this fine forum. Do they enforce it? Judge, Jury, and Executioner on EVERY post? Of course not. They are busy building speakers. Good, sweet sweet, super clean speakers for the masses to enjoy.

BUT, if someone makes a stink, they MUST do something about it, right? So I got my hand slapped, big effin woo. So someone has it out for me, again, call the effin WHAAAMBULANCE already.

I can 'tone it down a notch', for sure. You want to get rid of me? You are going to need to step WAY farther up than a curse word. I'm the Guns of The Navarone baby. I'm Superfly TNT.

What can I say. It's been fun. I'd like to think so. Almost 9,000 posts, and several years of my life. I'd like to think I helped a few people along the way. Beit sound advice, a deal on gear, or simply keeping the scammers at bay. Sure, there have been riffs, and throw downs - but we all came out the **** end better because of them. Certainly we've laughed more than cried.

The forum is always changing, and evolving, and we ALL need to learn how to adapt. I (and other members) have given you official gatherings, discounts with certain manufacturers, free demo / swap programs (who do you think pays for the gatherings/demo gear? - WE do), and without a doubt THE best flea market on the planet - one you can feel safe in.

We've turned a random internet audio board into a 'family', and I've made LIFELONG friendships here that I'm very thankful for. On that note, my work here is FAR from done - SOMEONE has to force Hi-Fidelity on you morons, even if it kills me in the process.

This isn't a post for peer recognition / validation - I've got that in spades whether I want it or not - I'm simply typing this out because I CAN. Actually, I'd be fine and dandy if this one saw NO replies.

A couple generic words of wisdom, if you should care to read them:

Simple is better. Typically, the less lights, buzzers, bells and whistles the gear has, the better it will sound.

Don't stress over specifications with amps. 60 watts, with a couple db of headroom will drive most anything. Start from there, and work up as you see fit.

Cables can make a difference, buy good ones.

At least once, try your speakers toed in, firing RIGHT at you.

Buy used. It may take a little patience to find the RIGHT peice, but it can really pay off - by either getting what you wanted cheaper - or getting an upgraded peice for the same scratch.

A tube preamp, and solid state amp offer the 'best of both worlds' in the tube/ss debate on reliability and tone.

Plan to get (back) into vinyl. With a just a little effort, you might have a LOT of fun.

Take note of the advice and or deals you've gotten, and pay it forward to another member in need. Ask nothing in return, other than for them to do the same when they have the means.

I feel like you guys/gals have a solid foundation laid down here, and a company that values its customers. I'm stepping back, and letting the forum choose its own direction from here on out - what you do with it is up to you.

Take care, and I'll see you on the flip (B) side.

Enjoy the music,
Russ

Russman - not sure what is going on, not sure I want to know! I can say that I have learned a lot from your knowledge and wisdom and quite frankly have not seen any posts of yours that I thought were out of line or that I had a problem with. I feel you are a valuable part of this forum. I think that you have to accept people for who they are, good, bad, or otherwise. We all have something to offer to the forum, and we all have pet gripes and hotspots that others might not agree with. I hope that whatever is going on gets worked out!

    Russ,

I don't really know you, actually not at all !! This said I have read your posts and have found them quite informative if not entertaining. It would be a loss to me and others on this forum if you leave. Unless you have been asked to leave by the moderators, I encourage you to stick around, if not for yourself but for the wealth of info you have to share.
If you don't stick around I am sorry we could't have gotten to know each other. I wish you the best !!
If you do stick around thank you.

Isn't there a saying " when the going gets tough, the tough stick around" Just don't let a couple people drive you away there are more people who appreciate you then want you out !

Yup, I'd ditto Willow's comments. You've saved me probably a couple hundred bucks on great deals and more than a few years off on a journey to find "my" sound.

The only problem I had with you, I brought up to you and no one else. You'll be missed, but I'll catch you when you come back... (Come on, you know you will.. ;) , I hope... :( )

Yeah yeah yeah, enough already, seriously.

I'm not going anywhere, but I am, taking a MUCH less active role here - it's you guys forum, do with it as you see fit, comprende? The 2 'special' posts last night was just tieing up loose ends.

James, I deleted that pm without reading it based on the title alone.

Well, the title was the worst part, so I assume you got the gist (which was why it was in the title). Anyway, good to have you hanging around, even if you are in the background.

As always, great advice. One of the (many) things I enjoy about you is your ability to state the facts of a matter short, sweet and complete.

Like many others here, I have not had the opportunity to meet you. That will be rectified further on down the road.

I've gotten some great deals on gear thanks to you - and, as you suggested, I will be passing some of them forward in the near future without personal gain. That's what makes our shared hobby and friendships gained such a joy for me.

Enjoy the music as well, Broham!

Gotta love how on some forums, someone can't even say anything without it being looked at like gold yet other members don't even get looked at with a shred of respect. And yes, even ones with equal or more posts/time invested. Sometimes, I have to admit, internet forums get really f-ing ****.
