OK, so this isn't a happy moment for me......in fact it's ridiculously embarrasing. Really this isn't the norm, but after weeks after weeks being out of town and only here for long enough to unpack, repack, etc. the motivation to do anything other than sleep is minimal.

The problem is I get beyond tired of 'cleaning' and most of the time it's just shuffling stuff around because as i start to go through things, the stuff spreads.

Ultimately, the pictures are being posted more as a challenge to myself to get a LOT of work done, and over the next 2 days. I have to give up to the process and not shuffle, but organize.

Challenge on........

    Brett,

you're a trooper. Move forward and clean up your room!!!

JK man. I know how overwhelming it can be sometimes. But how I tackle large projects like yours is to put on some high energy music and start at one end of the room and make your way to the other. It's really not that bad. yeah it takes most of a day or two. but once it's done, it's done.

then kick back and get lost in some more tunes.

    good luck man, al

P.S. reward yourself with something you've had your eye on lately. It's motovation like that, that will make it easier.

It's going to feel amazing once that's all clean. Then you need to have a badass dinner & vino and watch a good movie or listen to some music.

    Hate it!
Only way i get through it, is to crank up the tunes, and just DO IT.
With three kids, the wife and myself working, you know it piles up fast. Also like you suggested, dump the kids for a day or two, only way to go.
    good luck.

I'd invite my boss or in-laws over. That'd motivate you to clean up.

My wife invites friends over a few times a month, and I'm so scared and embarrassed that I spend hours cleaning the night before. If we were to allow anyone to see the house in it's 'natural' state I fear they'd call DHS and haul off our kids.

If it weren't for company coming over, my place would look like a Buffalo Bills's basement in Silence of the Lambs!

    Brett,

Invite a friend over to scream at you: "Brett! If you don't get all this crap picked up RIGHT NOW, I'm gonna' get a big green trash bag and pick it up for you!! I'm not kidding!" Have him/her leave for a few hours, return, and scream: "Did you think I wasn't serious??!! I'm getting the bag NOW!!"

This works like a charm with our 4 1/2 year old son who, by the way, is now your biggest fan.

Mike (and Mitchell who clicked the thumbs up)

I'm sorry, I really don't see the problem. The TV and speakers are on one side of the room and on the other side of the room there is an empty place on the couch to sit. What level of perfection are you looking for anyway?

Brett, you're a long-time member, funny guy, and I can't wait to meet you in person. But MAN! Maybe you need to get shamed into cleaning up after yourself?

Brett, my garage and shed are cleaner, or I should say more organized than your living area. I mean that.

Buck up man, you need to be proud of your surroundings.

Trust, there is ZERO pride about the current status. I'm sure it has a LOT to do with my attitude as of late, thus the intent to get it cleaned up and back to what is seen in my SHOWCASE pics. It's sad to thin that the pic in this thread is the same space shown in those photos.......

Trust, the shaming is a big thing, and I knew I could count on you all...... :p

Dude man what a mess. But I do see the laptop and clear spot on the couch. Hell 1 piece at a time , you'll get it there.

I cannot believe you would let your spotless beautiful room that is in the showcase turn into such a pigpen! Hell if you can't keep it clean for yourself at least keep it clean for the dog!

What is so difficult about putting things back where you took them from rather than dumping them all over the room? If you did this you wouldn't have to worry about cleaning when you got back from all of your traveling.

Instead of buying another piece of gear, hire a housecleaner to help you get that dump back in good order, and keep them to help you keep it that way.

Expect it to cost a lot of money, since you have been such a slob!

a few of these I had to check and make sure my wife didn't post. Some gave their kids 45 minutes, wow I wish:D. The friends over trick works real well for us, that and a couple of Power Ranger SPD rewards for cleaning. Hey, I bet if you put your mind to it, it will take about a day to get that done.

And I'll tell you now, part of your problem is that out of all the crap in that room I don't see one freakin' beer. Sheesh...what up with that

The hardest beverage that I've had in my body is Diet Coke, which I've quit as of this past Monday. I was off of it for 6 months at one point, then started again. This time I'm goin for longer.....and the temptations have been HUGE. Water is NOT the same......

You're right, water is terrible in liquid form. As your spiritual advisor, I suggest you start out with a small amount of water in frozen form (chunky style). Surround that vile material with Gosling's Black Seal Bermuda Rum, and see just how fast that foul clear stuff improves tastewise!

    You're welcome,
