Monster Cable Dealers

Hey guys,

I am curious if you guys know who some top-low priced dealers for Monster would be. I know many of you are probably against Monster, but I have my reasons. So far Circuit City has had the cables that I want for the lowest price compared to what I've found on the web...odd I know. I'm looking for 3 pairs of Interlink Reference 1 meter cables for my Parasound Preamp and Amp. They have them for 69.95 a pair. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Wow you guys are 'ardcore. :)

CC has the best prices on those interconnects. However, I do have two pairs that I can sell you. I got them at CC, and have been using them with my Rotel gear for a while now. I am currently using them, and they are in excellent condition. I don't remember if they are both 1m, or if it's a 1m pair and a 2m pair. Either way, if you are interested they'll be cheaper than Circuit City, and by buying from a forum member and not buying new (IE, not giving more money to Monster) you'll make everyone around here happy.

Let me know if you are interested, so I can go ahead and order my Heros to replace em. :)

    Hey phuz,

Sure send me an email with all of the specs and details.
If you have a photo too that would be great. I am wondering if they are the new style like what is displayed on their website.

They are exactly like what you see on their site here. I can take a pic of them plugged into my amp if you really want a pic.

Is cabling that important? Someone like me, listening to high bitrate Mp3s (192khz+ VBR) out of a Creative Nomad jukeboz Zen xtra?

I use Monster generic cables to lead to the speakers from the amp but otherwise I use generic radioshack stuff. Am I really losing noticeable quality?

    boltaction,
wire is extremely important to ones system. The Level of wire you use should reflect the level of gear being used.
If you want to learn more , we can go there.

Cables barely make a difference, fractions of decibels.

    Thanks Polkthug,

I love the graph of the RTA - but have to ask: Is there any difference below 100 hz? Don't want to get too far off topic, but have you tried your RTA on different speaker cables - gauges, O2 free, etc? Would be an interesting experiment.

I used Polk RTi4 bookshelves for the test, with 12awg wires, and just swapped out interconnects. I think I cut it off at 100Hz because the graph gets to scrunched up when you have the full spectrum displaying all at once.

Yeah, it would be fun to do just the speaker wires, but its time consuming.

audioholics.com has done a ton of articles on cables. Read those. You're talking about milliohms, picofarads, and millihenries of difference...

The cable articles were done back in the good ol' days of audioholics when they weren't shilling out merchandise and having articles consisting only of press releases. Still waiting on their EHX write ups.........

Perhaps you should join the cable swap program or if you're in my 'hood I'd be happy to prove it to you......leave the graph chart crap at home, ears only.

I can tell a BIG difference between the Original Monster Cable I had and the Signal Cable Ultra (Double Run) speaker cable between my Sunfire amp and my Polks. The high notes and the increased clarity of vocals on well recorded material really stand out. One's ears really are the best judge(s). :)

When we listen to music we are continuously, hearing various frequencies at different amplitudes. There is equipment that can measure changes that are smaller than our ears can hear. Does anyone think they can hear the difference between a tone that is played .2 db's higher? My simple test gear can.

I didn't have anything else to do I guess, so I thought I'd come to the Polk forum and cause all kinds of trouble with an innocent question. I should have assumed that everyone that comes to this forum is a Monster hater. If Monster questions are not allowed, it should be posted as a forum rule.

Thanks for the welcome. I host a large forum, and get a little oversensitive when noobs get jumped, but no worries. Glad to be out here, and I certainly have enjoyed my RT12's, RT16's, and CS350LS.
