    In most states, if you beat your kids, you go to jail, or they're taken away. Not a good solution.

    We need a good world war to kick up again? You need to either get real, or pick up a history BOOK.

    Awful lot of INNOCENT people took it in the shorts last couple times around. Russia lost 20,000,000 ALONE. If this is what you really think the world needs, you need pro help man.

    You can get thrown in jail in Joisey for spanking your kids?!?! Damn. I figured California would eventually outlaw spanking but never over here on the east coast.

    Yup here on the east coast, spanking your child can get you buried knee high deep in social services and the court system, arrested for child abuse ect. ect. (They dragged a minister into court when his kid reported him for spanking him. The minister got off.)

    I got such a pleasant shock several years ago when I was vacationing in AZ & I was in a store. Some kid was acting up & the father must have reached his limit. Cause all of a sudden you could hear throughout the entire store: NO DADDY NO I DON'T WANT A SPANKING NOOOOOO!!!

    I think I'm the only one who looked up & paid any attention. Nobody said boo while this guy dragged his little girl out of the store, nobody raised their head, nothing!

    They came back 10 minutes later & little girl was as good as gold and stuck to dad like white on rice!

    I think every east coast parent who believes in being a parent & not their childrens friends should move to the west where it seems they are free to bring the long arm of the law down on their unruly kids asses when it is required. Which is far better than the long muzzle of a nine millimeter gun going off at the end of the long arm of a police officer.

    Spare the rod & spoil the child & the rest of us have to pay the price! I'd much rather have the child get his **** torn up by his parents so that he knows better when he is a full adult.

    No, you're right. The kid and his buddies probably need the crap beat out of them. My point was more regarding forced patriotism and the right to protest in one's own manner, which may not have been totally applicable in this particular case I'll admit. It was the look on the teachers face that got to me. Reminded me of a couple of drill instructors I once knew (and my 6th grade teacher now that I think about it. )
    But, regardless of this paticular situation, our rights ARE slowly going out the window (whether anybody else cares or notices) and there is a certain apathy towards it. And if not all here agree with me the ACLU certainly does. And if I don't understand our founding fathers true intentions they certainly do. It's obviously a sensitive subject with me and others here. I'm patriotic too. I spent 8 years in the Armed Forces during the Viet Nam era. But that doesn't mean I don't find things wrong that I'd like to see changed. Unfortunately, as much as I hate to say it, Chinas recent assessment of democracy here in the States was not that far off the mark. (said as he ducks for cover!) Nuff said from me on the subject....sorry if I stepped on anyone elses unflappable patriotism.
    Anyone else wants the last word it's yours.

    The way I see it, the only real patriots are in the ground. The word patriot gets bandied about a lot. You give it ALL for this country, in my book you're a patriot. All our combat wounded are patriots too, didn't mean to shortchange those sterling individuals.

    I've been on the PAYROLL for 28-29 years. Doesn't make me a patriot.

    Nate Hale wasn't getting paid, Pat Henry, lot of those guys were patriots.
