Look, just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion or thinks your gear is as great as you do, why must it get your **** in a wringer.

If you don't want opinons, don't ask for them.

I also understand the camp that is always looking for that elusive bargain gem, the Toshiba 3960s of the world. What I don't understand is F1s complete and utter contempt for anything that isn't elite, and the attitude that if you own or advocate a bargain-priced component, you're a moron.

It's insulting. Maybe it's not intended that way, but it is.

    *shrug* Oh well...

Look, what are you guys missing here?

IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOUR POINT OF REFERENCE IS

I've listened to enough entry level players long enough to realize that there is a REASON that I dropped the coinage for a brand new tube CD player. It sounds better. Period. Since upgrading MY point of reference, every entry level player that I hear or have heard is, for lack of a better term, less than adequate for my tastes. Does that mean I'm a snob? Possibly, but from what I use as a reference, I stand by it. Does it mean that your gear sucks? If it doesn't to you, good on you. Enjoy it.

The point is fellas, if you dig your gear, does it REALLY matter what I or anyone else thinks?

Let me comment further, just as the law of dimishing returns applies to moving up the audio chain, it applies to the other end as well. It is wholly unrealistic to think that for $150.00 one is going to get a CD/SACD that isn't easily bested by a CD/SACD a little further up the chain. There is only so much a manufacturer can include in said player and sell it for that price. With that in mind there shouldn't be any reasonable expectation for quality sound.

Yes, it is interesting how your point of reference evolves, just never forget what your very first point of reference was. Kind of like how I can't stand watching TV at other people's houses (add me to videophile snob list).

With respect to ribs, I concur. For sandwiches, your point of reference needs adjusting. :p

Ooh, I haven't tried that one yet, I'll check it out this weekend.

My favorite burger is in Merriam. At Grandstand, they have a burger called the Kelly Burger:

    top bun
    lettuce
    tomato
    bacon
    cheese
    burger
    ham
    cheese
    burger
    bottom bun

    mmmmm

Steve, I feel you, bro.....but if it is such a great player, why isn't everyone (and going by your sig, you as well) using one?

As a 150 dollar player, it may be great but it's still a150 dollar player.

Steve, you still haven't cottoned on around here. Specs are specs and do not provide the full story. You will find many other cdp's with the same specs that will smoke that player in question. Do they cost more, could be. Why? Because they use better quality parts which added up result in better quailty sound. It's very simple really. FYI, I have owned many Sony cdp over the years, they always have one trait in common, they are bright. Designed that way by Sony because of some notion they have about what sounds good. The Sony ES line uses better parts, costs more and in the end sounds better too.

So, keeping on subject, bbq-wise its like a McRib from McDonalds, right? A lot of people like the McRib, until they have a short end from Jack Fiorella's. But, when a high-end bbq eater talks bad about the McRib, the McRib eaters could be offended. :D

So does BBQ have to BBQ sauce to be BBQ??

Barbecue does not require sauce, unless you have a low point of reference and have to slather your McRib to make it taste good.

Sauce can be used to enhance the flavor, but it is not mandatory.

I like sauce, but if the meat is reallly really good, I won't taint it with sauce. Kind of like how I want to puke if I see someone put A1 on a KC Strip.

AHHHH, I wholeheartedly concur, I consider BBQ to be food cooked over some type of open pit, a few charachters have told me this is "grilling" not BBQ.

I have tasted the famous KC BBQ and lets just say the BBQ never had a chance!!!!
