Sorry, if I worked in sales or owned a store and had to feed my family, I'd feel a hell of alot better about myself and my choices if I knew I wasn't ripping off my customers and robbing them blind with BS like Bose and Monster Cable. Sometimes, it's not about money but the quality of one's character. Doesn't seem like you grasp that concept to readily Dan.

Personally, I have used Monster Cable before and only because no one else was open or had what I needed. I have been very dissappointed with Monster Cable products and the ONLY thing from MC that I would recommend is the fuses because MC doesn't make them. They buy them from another company, repackage and slather thier name all over them.

Lastly, if you want to hear what a Bose system lacks, play something with a vocalist and a piano in it. The piano covers the entire mid-range and well into the upper registers and a vocal fills in the rest. One good selection would be a Bruce Hornsby album. I switched another friend over from the Bose Bigotry around Christmas. I let him borrow my Bruce Hornsby CD when he went shopping and he could not believe how much detail the Bose system was missing.

Sorry, I don't tear down companies and products just because I don't like them. I don't recommend stuff that doesn't perform and doesn't live up to its sales pitch. I'd rather tell people that they are getting ripped off by Bose and Monster Cable than to recommend Polk Audio. Only reason is because if I at least stear them away from those companies to look at something else, I know I stopped a theif from taking advantage of someone else profitting from their ignorance.

Couldnt have said it better. Someone also mentioned why the Bose system is in so many cars. Marketing. That's the only reason. My mom has a GMC Envoy with the Bose system in it. It's a step above stock, but only worth about a quarter of what they charged her extra for. She wouldn't have gotten it but it was the only Envoy the dealer carried with the features she wanted in the color she wanted.
Bose is in factory systems because everyone knows the name and auto-makers know that. If people would keep preaching Bose is the best you can get, then this wouldn't happen.

    jstas,

Dude calm down. Bose and Monstercable isn't a rip off. 2 you and I maybe but for most people it's not. Who the hell our we to judge the people who want to buy it??? Where all opnionated **** with no right. You me George Troy and many other don't care for Monstercable and Bose, But that doesn't mean people are getting ripped off. People do get guided in our stores. Don't sit there and say Tweeter is rippinf people off. I take offense to that as Tweeter is a very good company and goes way out of there way to help there customers. We support our customers years after the sale. Bose Monstercable or whatever they want to buy is fine. Trust me we have plenty of other products we love to sell. Good sounding to some and junk to others.

Bose is what it is and so is Monstercable. You feel it's a rip off then don't buy it. People who like it they like it for there reasons and I don't knock that.

Let me say it again , people who buy bose look for bose we as a company don't push it or any one product for that matter. We build systems not sell boxes.

    Y'all are nuts.....

Why do I drive a Honda and some of you guys drive Ford? Why do people want one thing while others want another?

All of us are in agreement that Bose is not the end all be all in the audio industry. That does NOT mean that someone else shares our opinion, nor does it make a sales person a bad person for selling a product to someone who decided for themselves that (for whatever reason) the Bose product was the line of choice for them.

No one can convert every single person to something else every single time. I don't fault a business for selling an item that makes money and brings people in the door. I don't fault a salesperson for selling Bose if there was an attempt to demo something comparable, but lets face it, not all customers want to be guided into something that the salesperson is pushing. Past that, it's the customers choice to make and if they choose a system that I (as a salesperson) wouldn't recommend, so be it.

I don't drive down the roads looking at people like they're idiots for not driving the type of car I drive. Nor should I ultimately judge them for buying something that I wouldn't personally purchase.

Very well said there Zero and Brett. Very well said indeed.

Ya'll know what? Companies like Bose and Monster actually help Polk out. I can't even begin to tell you how many people's homes I visit that may have the big screen tv but still listen with the stock tv speakers. Isn't THAT amazing. Now, companies like Bose and Monster spend a lot of money on marketing and advertising. Companies like Polk, Paradigm, MIT, Kimber, etc. do not necessarily. But since the Bose's of the world spend money advertising, they get some people to raise an eyebrow and second guess the stock tv's speakers and go into a store wanting to hear some speakers that are designed for home theater. Undoubtably, many will walk out with the " theater in box" setup which should sound better than the stock tv speakers. This choice may be a budgetary, WAF, asthetic, etc. factor going on. But there will also be the ones that will want to hear the variety of choices at hand and say after listening... hey... those Polks destroy the Bose in sound quality. I think I want to ring the Polks up on my credit card because they just sound better.

Its a crazy game I know... but I see and hear of it all the time with the people that I know and run across.

It's how it is. People have there priorities. As I said before most are more concerned about video then audio. They will drop 3 to 4 times or even more on video and be happy with a home theater in a box system like Bose or other brands. It kills me every single time to see it. Killer video and crappy audio to go with it.

Just about ever single customer could care less about wire. They know they need it in order for there system to work but they never see it so it's always a non factor of what Brand it is. Monstercable sells on name alone. People feel proud and warm hearted knowing there system is wired with the "GOOD STUFF" and to the general public Monster rules this.

People who get into audio for the first time on a Home theater level are blown away by what IT can do. It's not so much "how good it sounds" but that it "sounds " at all. After they learn everything they can learn they come back wanting more. Our customers are all return customers and want the next level down the road. They now have some experience with "BETTER THEN THEY HAD BEFORE" and now want to listen to that Denon avr3805 with Polk Lci inwalls or Rti floor standing.

Here is another thing to think about when talking about todays shopper , they want stealth , inwalls are our number 1 selling style speakers. Floor standing speakers go to the guys who love audio and BIG speakers. These shoppers had the BIG Panasonic speakers of the past the HUGE Kenwwod rack systems with the speakers with 15 inch drivers. I see it all the time.

Alot of times Bose shoppers are wife driven. The husband has his 1978 audio system that takes up half the room. They want those ugly **** speakers out of the house and for the most part out of her state. The further they are away rom her the better. Firewood would be better duty for these classics. She sees the little cubes and says "Honey I want those ".

Brett hit it on the head about who buys what and why. There is no reason for us to judge them. We can however try our best to educate them about audio and video but we can't tell them whats good and whats not so good. I drive a BMW and don't go around telling everyone that Chevy and ford sucks. That salesman who sell Chevy and ford are ripping people off. They are all good cars and trucks for the peolpe who love them. I love my car for what it is and how I feel when driving it. Others perfer Ford and probably get the same thrill I get.

Morals are your own about certain products.

I'm not going to disagree so much with what Dan is saying; it's just that it's 180 degrees from what he's been peddling for the past couple years it's just a shock to the system.
