    First off, quit double posting.

    Second, that amp is cheap because its last years model and SoundDomain is clearing them all out.

    Exuse any snideness, but you really shouldn't be going into this so you can have the "best" stereo. It's all subjective anyways.
    Go for a damped car so you can,
    A) Get more out of your system.
    B) Not break any disturbance of peace laws
    C) Not bug the hell outta people like me, I absolutely hate being behind a guy with his subwoofers going so loud they make me physically ill with all the loudness and such.

    Couldnt agree with you more Mjr.

    If its loud enough to vibrate the mirrors of the car next to you then there is a very good chance it sounds like ****.

    Keep it simple and build a system that sounds good to you and screw what everybody at your highschool thinks.

    I know thats not easy to do and I was guilty of it when I was in HS too. I thought that the louder a stereo was the better it was.

    Better yet, go to a good high end stereo shop that has a demo vehicle and see if theyll let you have a listen. Once youve heard a properly tuned stereo, youll never be the same.

    only my friends knew i had a system in high school. my school was ghetto, i never played it loud in the parking lot. i did have the best system in the school though. id venture to say i have one of the best systems in my college now. not the loudest, but def. one of the best sounding.

    Good for you Cody.

    Loud dont mean ****!

    Anybody can get a 15" sub and a big **** Pyle amp and be loud. It takes skill and experience to build a well tuned SQ system. And they can be listened to all the time whereas how long can you really listen to a loud bass note?

    You guys are talking about Watts,Watts and more Watts..If you hook up a system that delivers...lets say....a total output of a 1000W ok..Then you have to remember one thing..1000W=83A..(!).Now you have another problem.Current..! Your dynamo have to work overtime to deliver enough current so that your 1000W system is fully opperational..A good tip is that you look at the fuses on the amp and add all amps together and then you can use this formula to check if you amp CAN deliver what it says..

    P=Watts
    I=Ampeer
    U= Voltage

    P=UxI
    I=P/U
    U=P/I

    I.e...fuses are 40 A for one amp and 50 A for the other=90A

    I=90
    U=12 (voltage of the car)
    P= ?

    so..P=UxI....12x90=1080W

    your system is capable of 1080W of total output power..
    IF your car can deliver the juice without melting down the batteries.

    Cables are also a signifficant thing here..Allways use "big enough" cables.If they are too small in gauge,the power cable will not be able to deliver what the amps need..result: HOT power cables.! And allways use the same gauge for the + and -.
    A battery doesn't have 12V+ and 0V -...12V+ and 12V-..

    hope this was usefull.

    [/QUOTE

    ..If you have an amp delivering 600W MONO in 4 ohms,and you hook up one (1) sub at 4 ohms it wil deliver 600W.If you hook up two (2) subs at 4 ohms you can connect the two subs in two ways: 1. serial connect them and you will get 8 ohms.Then the amp will deliver HALF of the original output..now 300W TOTAL. (150W each)
    2.You can prararell connect them in to 2 ohm and DOUBLE the effect from the amp..now 1200W..(600W each)
    With 4 subs at 4 ohm you can hook them up so the total output power of the amp will stil be 600W.

    i.e:
    sub 1 in serial with sub2=8ohms

    sub 3 in serial with sub4=8ohms

    sub 1 and 2 in pararell with sub3 and sub 4=4 ohms

    this is the whole wide explanation i was tryin to get at posting this thread and yall told me i was wrong.. i dunno if g-man is right but if he is then i was right!! that is excatly what i was tryin to understand about what i was told bout mono amps....!!! i ran my friends 4 - 12"in JL w0s with a JL audio 500 mono amp running a 1 ohm load and i know they are runnin more than 125 watts to each sub every single one of them hoes are bumpin! i was told when you lower the ohm load it increases the power of the amp thus givin a full 500 watts to each sub

    No we never told you you were wrong. You asked how the power was divided. We told you. Regardless of subs, the power is gonna be divded equally.

    You asked if you bought a 600 watt amp and hooked up both your subs how much would each sub get.

    We told you. And you still dont get it.

    If you hooked up 4 subs to a 500 watt amp then they are getting 125 each! If they were getting 200 each then it wouldnt be a 500 watt amp but rather an 800 watt amp.

    The power rating on an amp doesnt mean power per sub. It means total power. If you hooked up 500 subs to this amp, regardless of configuration, they would all be getting 1 watt each.

    damn fords.... :p

    It was funny, i pulled into a gas station to get a pop and parked my 99 Dodge Dakota Sport next to this older Ford Ranger (probably early to mid 90's) and the owner and his Girlfriend were coming out of the store at the same time, he's walking to her side to open her door (glad to see i'm not the only one who still does that) and she looks at me and says 'i like your truck' is it just me or is that kinda an insult to her boyfriend, a ford driver, for her to compliment my dodge?
