    Thanks Sean!

PAINT!!!!!!!!! I lightly painted these things and it still took about 1.5 cans of spraypaint..

For those that are wondering why I painted a speaker that I was going to cover with cloth...

The cloth is pulled tight, therefore the MDF would show through...would look funny

Looking good. Now you just have to have little plates made up with your name, to stick on them. eg. "SIDS"
    Win7 Media Center -> Onkyo TXSR702 -> Polk Rti70

Wow, Sid...I must say I'm impressed!

Only thing I can see wrong with them is you should recess the driver. Should help a little bit but if you're satisfied with them the way they are don't worry about it.

If you could put a red maple or cherry stained piece of wood on top of them I think that would make them look killer!

I might make new caps later on...but right now they need to be black to go with my black/gray/white room...

I made it to where I could take off the cloth and caps with no issues in the future...

Thanks!!! :D I hope the subwoofer I am 'piecing' together will look half as good! lol

Recessing the driver was a thought as well, I just dont like routers...and they dont like me...so...

    Nameplates would be awesome...

AmpraSid in fancy handwriting...LOL - NICE

    As for the name...

    AmpraSid Black Lab...

They are Black, and a Labyrinth

lots of comments on how they look (and they do look nice) but how do they sound? Are you happy with them? If your budget was larger, would you have gone with just a better driver or a compelely different setup?

    I have written a review/working on a review...

It goes in depth with it...I will post it and the design plans after I get the project completed...

But to put out a teaser....

They sound, great - ESPECIALLY for 120-130 dollars (NEW) in parts. - You wont find a speaker out-perform this speaker for well recorded music...period

However, if you are looking for balls to the wall, hard core rock sound...this just isnt for you...period - They arnt for HT....period

They like well recorded music with female vocals and guitars...

Other than that tid bit, I'll post my findings later on...

What I would have done differently...

No, I wouldnt have gone with a different driver, this driver is simply amazing (for the price) -- I am sure there are some tweaks that could have made it better --

But, Russ was telling me how we might be over-damping the woofer (the top two folds are filled with dacron) -- and that if we were to go about doing this again that would should put 2 layers of dacron (about 1.5" of fill) along each brace and leave an open path for the air to pass through instead of filling folds... this will eliminate the midrange back wave while still letting the driver breathe which should increase bass - to my understanding...

It is definetely an excellent speaker, and if I ever had to sell off my Definitives, I could live with these for a while - but they arnt quite up to par with what I like, but then again they only cost 125 bucks to complete, finished...everything done...probally less than that -- probally around 110...

I really wish I had a place to put them and a tube integrated Russ offered me... that would be AWESOME -- I will have to pass that thought by my Mom...

Trey, how do they sound in comparison to your former speakers, Polk RTi70?

    I sold the RTi70 a while back...

I currently have the Definitive Technology BP10B...

The Definitives beat it in all areas, the clarity and seperation is a no contest by a long shot, the Definitive all the way...

However detail in instruments and female vocals, bass - is close.

The Black Labs are WAY pickier though

    Sid,

Why the 1 way design? A tweeter added to the mix would I think do wonders for clarity and separation.
