I thought the eclipse started this morning, but it was just a bottlecap in my eye.

    Great photo dlew308 :D

I was under the clouds for this one. I do remember seeing lunar eclipses two years in a row when I was in Turkey, Octobers 1985 and 1986.

I'm a nerdy Unix Systems Admin by day/nite and do photography for fun on weekend :)

Seriously it's a cheap nikon lens, stores sell it for $130 new.
I got it with 2 lens set for $106 shipped on ebay and sold the other for $50...so $56 :)

Sure. Think of the moon in terms of brightness of the Sun. Ap Priority won't work right. When it's this bright try f/8 and 1/125
Vary the shutter speeds until you get it to your liking....tonight is a good night to try again.
Some say the sunny method, f/16 and 1/iso-speed#
Since it's brightness varies, start from one point and go from there

    Good luck :)

    Dlew,

Thanks for the pointer, the picture was much improved even if it was a cloudy night. Now I think it was the 300mm lens difference. The D100 has a mag factor right 1.5 or so?
