As for rappers who sing, (Nelly for Example) I am pretty sure that a multi-platinum rap artist doesn't give a crap about who doesn't like there music.
I hate any artist that screams and yells, or tears up nice guitars on stage for no reason at all. These guys wouldn't know melody if it bit them in the ****.

Honestly, even as a high-schooler, I enjoy, or at least put up with any type of music. I like the Classics and comptemporary, I just try to keep an open mind. I have a high tolerance to overplayed music, that helps when I go to somewhere like where I work and we listen to a "variety" radio station,
    Matt

btw, Danger Boy that one song that get excessive airplay is 100 Years, just so you know.

    Danny,

you're right man... she butchers every cover song she does... why can't she just stop singing other peoples songs and do her own??

Her cover of I Drove All Night has to be the worst cover song I've ever heard. period. Do you know who first did that song? I've always associated it with Cyndi Lauper... i'm an 80's guy.. and I love Cyndi's cover of it. (She blew everyone away this summer in concert doing this and all her other songs).

Anyw how about the covers that Wilson Phillips are doing right now? I'm so mad i can't even type anymore. I rarely like and remake songs... When Celine did the Pattie Labelle song.. i changed the station.. and called them up to say that they should from now on only play the Patti LaBelle version. :D

    danger boy,

Previous to Cyndi Lauper's version, "I Drove All Night" was done in the 80s by Roy Orbison (that's while I mention the black-and-white video for the song featuring Jason Priestly and Jennifer Connelly in the above link). The song appeared on a now out-of-print CD called "King of Hearts", which was an album of songs Roy was in the process of recording when he died suddenly. It was finished up by Jeff Lynne of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) and, I believe, members of the Heartbreakers (Tom Petty). I am not aware of an earlier version of the song before Roy's.

As for the current Wilson Philips song, you must mean the cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way". While I have to say I prefer the original version, I don't mind the Wilson Philips version. It's always a double-edge sword when covering a classic song....it's rarely as good as the original and the comparisons are inevitable.

But Celine Dion....you're right, she tends to butcher every song she covers.

One band that I absolutely hate is Trapt. Whenever I heard their first whiney single on the radio, I would immediately change the station or put in a CD. I have never heard anything other than the two singles that they released (both sucked), and hopefully I will never have to. There are lots of other groups out that I can't stand, but the list would be too long.

    Danny,

Yeah that's the Fleetwood Mac song that Wilson Phillips does.. that to me.. just sounds bad. Not that Wilson Phillips aren't good singers.. they're ok.. it's just that that song is associated with Fleetwood Mac, and no matter who else records it again..

I'm with the guy who feels "with a few exceptions" and I will further modify it to "with VERY few exceptions."

The Mexican radio stations don't have to abide by FCC laws and are probably twice as powerful as your local rock stations. This lends credence to my motto "A meng can NEVER have too much power."

Country makes me WANT to puke, RAP gets it partway up my throat, and smooth jazz is all over the front of my outfit, even if I'm wearing my good clothes (not my play clothes). Then there's Robert Plant's voice which is in a category all its own illness wise.

Korn. Ever since they brutally massacre'd one of the greatest classic songs of all time, I have lost complete respect for a band I used to like (not love but like). And no, I'm not talking about "Word Up."

    Amen Henry!

Mike682, the song you are thinking about by Meatloaf is called: "Paradise by the Dashboard Light".

This song cracks me up at the end of it, because it's so ironic! I also like "2 Out Of Three Ain't Bad"

Some of the singers you all mention are talented, but the problem they have is that they keep singing the same stuff in the same key with different words over & over again. Or they borrow someone elses song & butcher it.

Everyone has lost their creativity & originality. It's the same problem with the movies. Remakes all over the place of TV shows or comicbooks!

OK.....I just knew someone would put Green Day down as their least favorite band. Up until American Idiot, I could take them or leave them, but that album is a freakin masterpiece. Jstas calls them commies? Why is that? Because they happen to not agree or like the current administration? I guess if you voice your opposition, then your a communist? Please. I dont even hear any anti-W stuff on the album. Come on guys. I mean, from what I hear John Lennon was a total a-hole as a person, and he was probably closer to being a commy than green day, but the guy was still an amazing musician. Try and seperate the politics of a musician from their music.
