    TX law;

you can shoot them if they are in possesion of your property and you are on your property. we had some cases where some thieves were pushing a monte carlo away...and the guy shot them from his front yard... under TX law...he can do that. Just long as he dont step on the sidewalk

in tx though...you better kill them..or they will sue you!

arent those pain thingies just high-sensitivity tweets w/ a tone being sent to them? i'd say the hardest part of DIYing that would be getting the test tone to play when the alarm went off... and i bet the tweets you've got now would do pretty well... say about 12 kHz + 13 kHz (dissonant tone makes it sound louder) all the way up... for a short burst on good tweets it shouldn't blow them, but it'll be crazy loud... maybe a couple extra tweets in the vents just for this purpose (i've heard of something mentioned here that i believe was called a piezo tweeter that sounds kinda bad but is reallllly loud... yes? no?)

these dont play short bursts...they play as long as your alarm is going off...theyre more of along the lines of ID's horn tweeters

Ugh. I remember peizo tweeters from back in the 80's. MTX and used them in their Road Thunder boxes. Each box had a sub (8-15") a 4" midrange and a peizo tweeter. Ouch! These things made Infinity sound smooth.

I dont know if anybody uses them nowadays tho.

Im talking about the peizo tweeters. Im not sure if the ID ones are piezo. They are way too harsh a tweeter for any kind of SQ as far as I know anyway.

www.partsexpress.com has a lot of sweet stuff to play with. You'll find some sort of horn tweeter there no prob...along with 20 other goodies to play with. I got one of their free catalogs and took it to class with me for a couple weeks before I got bored of it

Imagine this going off 2 feet from your head when powered by 125wrms http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?DID=7&PartNumber=264-230

Those Peizo tweets (Motorola knock-offs) will run you $1.25 each, you guru's need to figure out how to feed them just a few watts (they are REAL efficient), and the correct tone(s).

Slap it all in a small plastic project box, and make a KILLING. If they are selling for $300 - well, I just told you you have $5 in drivers, do it.

    Cheers,

I know. It would be cool to do for sure. There are quite a few other tweeters on that site that were 1-5 bucks as well. I was just using it for an example of the "most extreme" version for the one I listed.

I'd be too afraid to drive in the car without ear plugs in case of something going wrong and them all going off as I'm driving on a windy highway or something.

    LOL!

    Yeah, that would suck.

Driving down a country road and some kind of short sets off your alarm and 150 db 5000 Hz tone makes you drive right off into a ditch!

    LOL!

Yup, it would probably pierce a hole thru your head!

And hell, what better way to stop thieves then by killing them where they stand?!?

Well, you may keep your audio equipment but your legal fees would probably be pretty stiff.

The cheapest brand of speaker you can buy. I think they sell them at Kmart.

Theyre real popular with rednecks here in the south. Theyll buy a pair of 6x9s and lay them behind the seat, without an enclosure, just using the magnet to hold them down, and then power them with a 25 watt EQ/booster or something and run around town blaring the distorted sounds of Hank Jr.

What I don't get is why companies make lines of equipment with names you'd really not want to associate with the product..... sparkomatic .... they gonna be all sparky? ... the sony explode series.... kinda speaks for itself... bah it could be just me but I think they didn't really think much about how the name would work with the product.
