I heard one in the showroom once being pushed by a JL 1000/1 and it felt like it would suck the air out of the soundroom everytime it hit!

I also had a buddy that had two in a Volkswagen. I cant remember what he was pushing it with, Eclpise amps if I remember right. Anyway they were getting 1000 watts each and it made it difficult to breathe and it hit so hard it threw my equalibrium off enough to make me dizzy!!!

Now theyre not as tight and musical as say a W6 or Diamond Audio but they sound better than 75% of the SQ subs out there and better than about 90% of the SPL models! At least I think so.

The W7 is a powerhouse that puts out major DB with excellent sound quality. Kind of the best of both worlds.

However the Orion H2 is simply a monster. This thing is not only louder but it punches harder than anything Ive ever heard. This thing moves more air than a wind tunnel! The impact is stunning. If impressing your friends by punching a hole in their engine blocks is your bag, this is the sub for you. Car Audio Electronics reviewed this thing and it hit the highest SPL of any sub theyve tested before. 133.3 DB in a plain old .55 sealed box and 2000 watts. Not too shabby!

The sound quality is not as good as the W7 or W6 but its way better than most subs on the market and I wouldnt have a problem heading to a SQ competition with this badass bringing up the rear!

But this beast is hungry and it needs to be fed properly (i.e. 1500-2000 watts) or youll be missing out on a lot of performance.

how does a eclipse sw9pro compare to h2 and brahma. in terms of style eclipse wins hands down. eclipse has more rms power at 3k. xmax of 1.75inches and max 4inch peak to peak are pretty close. comparing that the models are all 15inch but it also comes in 18. sq has to be good cause they built the sub to hit quicker than a typical 8 incher. has anyone heard of these in 18?

    Regarding Polk subs...

I have sat in a car installed by Polk with 4, 10" subwoofers. The bass was incredible with tons of impact, the only thing that got my attention though was the fact I could still hear all of the music perfectly and the entire back seat was still moving 3-4 inches....

Polk does NOT make the best subwoofers in Car Audio....but they do make OK ones that I wouldnt mind having if I bought them used.

If Polk needs to do anything with their subwoofers, it is their Home subwoofers...bleh

That JL subwoofer looks mammoth on that Excursion site......

Thanks to LethalLee for the great PDF on eclipse products. That was great reading, and enlightening on Eclipse.

VR3: also, in all honesty, the box home subs Polk offers are an industry standard style. Not too flashy, that's how polk makes their product.

Maybe my standards are way to high for subwoofers in the lower price ranges now...

    www.svsubwoofers.com

    www.hsuresearch.com

Online companies, but Polk shouldnt be failing so bad in comparison...

    All opinion though, of course

well the W7 13.5 I had was loud and hell clear.

Me I rather have one 13.5 then 3-5 10" polk.

considering I bought my w7 for under $600.

MacLeod: I guess youre lucky Polk has such lax hiring standards.

What is your box made out of? gold?

    Heck, how big is it?

I could probally make a 2" thick Plywood box for less cost than that...jeez

    AH! That could do it!

PE offers some nice sub boxes constructed of 1" medite...gold terminals, etc for like 60 bucks + s/h...

That would be my first option if I was ever to lazy to build my own

Im not sure what he's talking about. Tweeter has a 13W7 AND slot ported box for $800, and Id rather have an H2 12. For sheer SPL, Ill put them up against anything out there. Not the best in SQ but Id say theyre in the top 10%.
