    I dunno about their new stuff. But Polk DB12s are amazing subs.

    All of Polks stuff is very good.

    I like all their Momo line (just not the Momo name).

    Polk isnt the best gear in the world but in its price point it dominates. For instance the MM6. Not the best speaker in the world but better than anything else you can get for $300. And youll have to get into the $400 league to find anything that smokes it.

    JL w3v2 will kill a momo....RIP
    10" Pioneer TS-255C, ported tuned to 38hz with 25in^2 port area.

    Run off Profile CA1200 (900w@4ohm)
    this would create a "sledge hammer" effect and a terrible localization of bass. lets say we downfire the sub... not only would it be localized, but the reflected bass waves would shoot right back at the cone and probably cancel out a lot of the sound... whereas the conical "normal" sub would allow these waves to bounce all around.

    Personally, for subs I prefer JL over just about anybody.

    It kind of sucks tho cause Ive been a JL lover since 97 when they werent in every system. Now theyre like **** and theyre everywhere!

    That being said, I think JL subs sound better than anything else but the Momo sub is pretty damn good too. You wouldnt go wrong with either.

    It may be better to go with Polk and be a little different.

    JL Audio, one of the top manufactuers in the industry. One of the all time winningest speaker makers in the competition scene. One of the benchmarks and standard for audio equipment?

    As prestigious as this company is theyre going to take a JBL sub and stick their logo on it and compete?

    Why a JBL? Why not go all the way and use a Pyle sub and scratch out the name with a sharpie.

    I can't vouch for years past, but it seems at least this year there aren't TOO many people using JL. I know Ron Buffington is using their subs (W6 I believe) and does extremely well, and also Martin Laffey uses the amps. Martin I think blew a JL amp at a competition, was getting no love from JL, and was searching for a new amp company. Almost as good as the amount of JBL people having problems... the best was Phil Petracca blowing a JBL amp during the listening test (ie. not loud at all and shouldn't have blown).

    Doubt it. I've heard rumors over the years something like that, but I usually here Pyle as the donor brand. Even if they re- badged subs once upon a time it would have to have been pre- '95 or '96. I started buying JL around that time and the W1 was a decent woofer but when the W6's came out shortly after they kicked everybody's ****. Three 10W6's with a good bit of power and about 2 cubic feet was a TON of bass. And they sounded great. JL might have had someone bigger (like Pyle or whoever) make the subs for them before they were on the map but that doesn't mean that they were simply re- badged subs. Lots of companies nowadays use the same vendor to make speakers, but the speakers aren't necessarily sharing any parts or design. just because it gets put together in the same building doesn't mean the woofers are even similar.

    I hope thats true tho cause RF buying MB Quart has really got me worried. Hopefully RF will be smart enough to leave them alone and let them continue making speakers the way they always have.

    As for JL subs... once upon a few years ago a friend told me I HAD to go to this shop in Deleware and see these JL subs... I did, and wasn't impressed, not with the shop, or JL, or anything... in fact I really only went there to look at a Kenwood H/U. I am not sure why, but I never even considered JL after that day.

    In fact it did it beat the POS Corvettes in the Best Motoring Battle of Imports "auto cross" the vetts were having some oil temp problems lol GM the GOD of RECALLS.
