I was in shock when I was running Karaoke last night, and I got this from Tony's wife.
"Hi, this is lea, Tony's wife. I wanted to let you know that tony passed away. He was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that spread to his liver. He died peacefully at pur home. I know he loved his Polk friends very much. Tell them all to play a meatloaf, jackson brown or queen song his honor." -
"I would love for you to join us his "party"- that is what he called it. It will be on 10.25 from 12-3 at golf club of algonquin. Please send me address', I am mailing out invites this week."
If anyone is in the area and wants me to give her your address, shoot me a PM.
Outside of the form especially before the Vid hit, every couple of months Tony, my wife Bridget and I would get together after work and have a few. We usually went to Seasons 52 ,for their happy hour specials and wine.
He was a great man and he will be missed. -

I found this on his Facebook page
The man, the myth, the legendary,
Tony Barone, has moved on to a better place.
He loved everybody, showing love thru food, or crashing a party, or starting some kind of shinnigans.
Dad was everyone’s fun Uncle Tony.
It didnt matter you were related or not, he treated you as such.
Dad was “that”guy.
Pops loved his pond and being in nature - which makes sense why animals wanted to be near him just as much as people did.
Dad had an aura about him that drew you in.
Most days when he wasnt in the garden, dad would just be chit chattin with family, eating something delicious and listening to music on the deck.
Which kept him out of trouble because dad was such a **** starter…..
Dads final days were sounded by love & family and went out in a way that most of us could only imagine- painless, at home and on his terms.
There will be a Celebration of Life, likely in September.
To help celebrate that- please share a funny post, story or pic about dad so that everyone could see what he meant to others ❤️ -
RIP Tony.

RIP Tony. Fortunate to have met him a couple times.

I did not have the fortune of meeting Tony, but I can still appreciate the connections that this forum provided for those who knew him. A loss of one of us is a loss for all of us. My condolences to his friends and family. RIP, Tony.

There’s a lesson to be learned here. Get a COLONOSCOPY if you’ve never had one and you are older.
I get one every 5 years but I have lost part of my colon to a perforated bowel due to diverticulitis.Since we don’t know where we are going we have to stick together in case someone gets there….Ken Kesey

Rest well, Tony. Was able to meet him briefly in 2015 handing off the Backert Labs preamp during its demo tour.
Great guy, big loss.Jay

I never met Tony or even chatted with him. But he was always such a fixture here on CP and a source of deep knowledge ever since I joined in 2009 (of course he was around long before that). I always enjoyed his posts, so well thought out and reasoned. And then he always had this thing about chiming into people's "for sale" posts saying stuff like "great piece at a great price here, kids!". Always the "kids" thing. This place will not be the same without him.
