Dan, you are still relatively young, and way out in front of this, so should have many options, regardless of the diagnosis.

Today, I had an overdue skin cancer (mole check) screening, since I had serious concerns about a few spots, but the exam didn't reveal any serious issues. I'm hoping (and praying) your test results will be similar. Lower back pain can have many different causes, so none of us need to be jumping to conclusions.

Glad to hear it wasn't to serious. I really hope my results are the same. My back is like having gas pains concentrated in the lower back left and right sides. This all started with left rib pain which has been gone for at least 2 weeks. It's all in my lower back now and it's now going on I think 3 weeks.

    Thanks for the kind words

And to add onto John's statement I too was screened for skin cancer and a small patch of it on my arm was removed. Since it was caught very early on there are no concerns. So here's hoping whatever your situation is, you too are looking into it at an early stage and get a positive outcome.

Man Skin cancer , geez cancer has no limits. There are to many different versions of cancer .Glad you caught it early enough not to cause you issues.

Dan, that's not one I've heard of. Hopefully, Stage 1 means there are some effective treatments. Praying for the best outcome for you. Reading some about it, it looks like it ends up being a chronic disease so I hope that doesn't get you discouraged. Medicine is advancing very quickly these days.

I am sure this is not the news we were all hoping for, but Stage 1 is better than Stage 2 and it sounds like there are treatments available. Chin up, man, take this all in and begin concentrating on your resolution to get better. Continued prayers for you brother. God bless.

Dan, thanks for the unfortunate update. It's not what you'd want to hear but I'm sure hearing stage 1 is much better than 4. I hope the docs will have you on a great plan to get better or at least keep it at bay.

Everything I've read talks about Stage 1 MM being the least aggressive and very treatable. Hoping that's the case for you,

Keep your head positive. You now know what's been seriously bothering you, maybe for all these years since the Covid illness.

It looks like you have many years ahead to fight this with new medicine.

My wife was involved with Pharma drug research studies for 30 years and was doing paperwork on a huge multi-myeloma research study. Apparently, the 1st study of its kind she says.
She saw great results during her time on that study, and she says you might be able to live with it for a very long time now. The pain and tiredness will have to be addressed alongside your treatment alternatives.

She was on the secret Viagra study in the beginning too, years before the public found out. It was a heart condition drug study. The old men with heart issues were pitching tents in their sleep... :D, so the drug Co. switched to a new study and the rest is history. ;)

Thank you for letting us know what your back pain (and possibly that fatigue) is caused by.

I hope you get relief knowing what's ahead. I'm glad it's stage 1.

Stay positive the best you can.

    We're praying for you. o:)

I go in for a Pet Scan today, little nervous . I already did a cat scan and that was easy, this you have to not eat at least 6 hours before your appointment and just plain water .
For 24 hours you have to cut all carbs out and just eat protein and certain veggies like broccoli. So last night for dinner I had plain chicken and broccoli with a little butter sale and pepper. No sugar

I'm completely fine with all of that I just don't like medical appointments , tests etc. Now this is probably gonna be my life.

Hope the scan answers any questions the docs may have and puts you on the right course to manage things while keeping your quality of life at the level that you want.

PET scan is no big deal. They inject you with radioactive sugar and take extensive scans of the body looking for areas that that glow in the dark so to speak. Cancerous tumors love sugar and feed on it.

Went through this a couple years ago. But yes the waiting is the hardest part.

    Wishing you the best.

Dan, I don't think it came out of left field. I think your "long covid" was actually your body telling you, you just weren't listening. As we get older we need to start really listening to the body and advocate for your health.

I was thinking the same. Perhaps this cancer was sleeping and when you caught COVID it woke it up as it seems you've been having issues on and off since. I'm no Dr, nor do I play one on tv. So take it with a grain of salt.

Well what's funny about that is my Aunt was reading about Myeloma and how it is connected to Long Covid. I have been beaten down since 2021 with Ling covid and I have not been the same. I think Long covid opened the door for this to happen.

No, I think you're on to something here honestly. I think Long covid had a lot to do with it.
Before I had covid and then long covid, I was a pretty healthy guy. I have been slightly over weight most of my life but I have been strong , decent cardio and free of sickness , even the common cold I would skip a few years before I would get it again. Around here in the North east , most people get colds every single year due to how extreme our weather can be. It can snow one day and be 75 degrees the next, it's been wild.

Thanks man. It's been about a month or so since all of this has been going on. Every day my back hurts, my mental stability is in question as dealing with this is extremely hard. I try my best to live my life the best I can.

Lifestyle wise I basically gave up drinking. I'm not a drinker honestly, I like a beer at diner if we go out or a glass of wine. I rarely ever drink at home. Once in a while I use to like having a drink while I use the grill.
Diet wise since I got long covid back in 2021, I have basically gone Organic as much as I can. I have limited bread pasta rice and sugar to a much lower rate than ever in my life. I grew up on those things and most of my life never considered cutting them down or out.

When you get news like this, which I'm gratful it's the least aggressive cancer at that stage I'm at, but it still hurts on all kinds of levels.

Of course it does and will continue. You're in the early stages of digesting this massive piece of news you've received. Only you will know when it starts to hurt less and how long that will take. In the meantime, you Need to take the time to process all of this.
