SVS Subwoofer SB16-PB16 Ultra Sale

Looks like SVS is doing away with this line for their new line SB-PB 17 Ultra Series.

Looks like a great deal for the SB16's, I have wanted a pair for some time now..

Well I for one will say you should go for it! More than a pair though, perhaps a quad or octal

Yep, you and I both. I'd love to be able to afford one at this deal ! Great deals like this always come along when I'm dead broke, never when I DO have some spare cash.

Totally understand, I have some fun cash stashed, and I am afraid if I don't pull the trigger I will regret it. would have to figure out where and how to place them at a later date..

Just an FYI, a PC upgrade made quite the improvement on my stereo subs. If you have some spare PC's, you may want to try them out.....or whenever funds allow, try upgrading them for better performance.

Please note - I tried about 4 or 5 PC's without any real discernible change. When I tried out the 6 Sons PC's I got from @marvda1, the performance increase was easily noticeable. This may be due to metallurgy used, more than anything else.

Congrat's on the new toys! Your presentation (once set up and dialed in) will greatly improve. These should offer your rig a superb foundation.

I mentioned this sale to a friend and he bought a second one. Got to hear the home theater last night. Sounded great and had plenty of punch. The ultra is massive. Not sure I could fit them in my home theater room.

Congrats, I hope you had help moving those into the house. When my PB4000's came I just had the Fedex guy drop (floor Jack) them in the garage. I had to man handle those big boys into the house.

Agreed Tom. I noticed a good improvement when I upgraded the power cables on my subs to the AQ Thunders. Then Skip allowed me to try all the WAYs in my system and I upgraded to the WAYs for not only the subs but also integrated and phono pre. With both upgrades I noticed the sub control and integration to get better.

@Toolfan66 Congrats on the new set! BTW my AQ Thunders are still for sale in the sale section

I didn't think that this was the name of his new lineup, but from what he said, it sure does sound like what he had described.

I'd love to see a shootout between these and Jonny's (Snake River Audio) new Takshaka's. They should be launched shortly. I already have 4 on order. 2 PC's and 2 IC's. Can't wait! I absolutely fell in love with the prototypes.

Curious how the SVS subs stack up against the JL Audio….?

Well, that is like asking how this VW Beatle will match up against a Camaro. SVS is very good but not in the JL class. My personal opinion only.

That’s kinda why I asked - I was surprised he went from JL to SVS…

    I have both sets.
The dual SVS SB17 are in the gameroom for ht and gaming etc
The dual JL113v2 remain on soundanchor stands in the stereo room.

The SVS 17 are tuned lower and hit hard. The upcoming room correction will be a nice addition. The JL cheats because of the JL CR1 I have…

    That’s REL imo.
Great subs but man, they charge a premium for the bass.

But having both subs near by, the SVS and JL, no reason JL should be asking what they’re charging when SVS is able to put out the 17s for what they’re retailing.

Got mine from a dealer for $2150 each. To me, that’s a legit good value for each 17.

Would it be Funk Audio, Genesis or REL?
